sticky sunroof
my sunroof sticks in the closed position if it is left closed for longer than a few days and sometimes i have to press up on the roof for it to get open...... what do you guys recommend I do so that it doesn't stick?? I think the parts that stick are the rubber seals TIA
Keys,
There are some adjustments that can be done to the moonroof. There is quite a bit of info in the Acura shop manual. Also, be aware that there is a TSB for "moonroof chattering when opening". I have Acura fix my sunroof a few years back to fix the chattering. In addition to chattering, it would sometimes stick closed and I would also have to push up on it to get it open.
Unfortunately, aside from the adjustments it is necessary to take out the headliner to gain access to most of the sunroof mechanicals.
Hello Acura Quality Control...................you suck.
Good luck amigo...

this spring , i was cleaning out my car and noticed that the sunroof tracks were all dirty, and the grease that was supposetly in them was all hard and dried up. looked all nasty. i cleaned them out and put some white lithum grease in it and my sunroof works perfect. I would say just try to clean it out real good first. but make sure to put more grease on it.
oh seriously? i have to mess with the adjustments to get it to stop sticking? I thought it was just something with the seals being dry or dirty
Well, you should definitely try the "clean and lube" before you dig any deeper. Mine was worst case scenario, but if there is a TSB, then it is definitely not an isolated incident. Hopefully yours is just dirty. You could also use some silcon spray to lube and clean the rubber seals. Spray the stuff onto a paper towel or clean rag, then wipe it onto the seals. Try not to spray the stuff directly onto or into your car.
Let us know how it turns out.
