12.2" 4 piston kit prices...rear 2 piece kits under way...
Now that all the preliminary fitment specs are done, I can give you some projected prices on the 2 kits using the 12.2" rotors.
The stock caliper kit using 12.2" slotted & drilled rotors will come in around $459.95 retail. These will fit under 16" rims with +40 offset. Your cost will be approx $395.
The 4 piston version of this kit will be $869.95 retail, your cost approx $750.
I plan on getting the rotor hats made within the next couple of weeks, so if you want a set let me know.
I have the rough specs (11.4" x 9mm) done for the rear 2 piece upgrade, and should have an idea of costs in a couple of weeks...I'm trying to keep them under $450 retail...

I'm about to purchase your two-piece 11"x1" front rotors and want to know if there is any real advantage to adding slots to them? Will it make any sort of noticable difference or is just "cool" for your brakes to look like that? Just trying to decide whether or not to drop the extra $50. Thanks.
Slotting really has only one purpose and that is to allow the gasses coming out of the pads a place to go. Most pads today don't have the same amount of out gassing as they used to due to better pad material formulations. If you plan to race or something similar that will heat your pads to the point they start to out gas then I would advise you to get the slots, otherwise plain rotors are fine...
So the stock calipers can be used with this rotor? What is the thickness? What is the seat of the pants difference in feeling between the stock and 4 piston calipers? How well does the 12.2/11.4 combo work with the stock brake biasing?
Enough questions for one post. I am daydreaming about how nice this combo will look behind my rims

I actually designed 2 systems, 1 to use the stock calipers and the other with the 4 piston calipers. The stcok caliper kit will have the same pedal feel since it is the stock caliper, but you will have much more braking force with the larger diameter rotor. The 4 piston caliper will give more feedback feel thru the pedal with the increased braking of the larger rotor.
I would expect the braking bias to remain pretty close to stock, in fact with the cross diagonal set up the bias really doesn't come into play much. Case in point, the 99+ Si uses the same prop valve as the DX.

Hey Brian, I am in love with the added stopping power of the ITR 2pc upgrade, I can't imagine how much nicer it could feel with a 4 piston caliper!
Saving up for the rear upgrade as we speak.. you are developing a 2 piece rear application? wow thats a cool idea too, nice goin' for us honda nutters!
Well, here's some more pics, didnt remember if you got to see them yet....

Owen, how much and from where did you find the calipers for those rotors? I want
hunt down a set of calipers before I order the rotors.
Side note: Yikes is that what salt does to your car? Hurray for the desert!

Actually my worry is how much replacement rotors will cost for the 2 piece setup and if the only place to get replacement rotors is through fastbrakes.
Also would the 4 piston kit work with the one piece 12 inch rotor? I don't really need the two piece's race benefits at least not til later....
And fastbrakes, you said that the 4 piston caliper would improve brake feel, but how about absolute braking performance or endurance?

well I found those 2000 prelude VTEC calipers for $150 for th epair.. shipped from Cali, !!!
great deal, and that included a set of OEM pads that have seen 12000 miles only.
the dude had advertised them on
http://www.hybridforum.com/wwwthreads.php/ and I jumped on the chance sighting of course.... you could pick up used accord wagon calipers for under $100 easily through a salvage yard/parts dealer, then just clean them up and get a set of pads.
yes rust is a biznitch.
My car was originally from Boston too, so it has seen only new england winters.. yikes is right

a couple of different companies that would be glad to make them for you. In reality I am only making $ on the hat section and hub rings in the 2 piece rotor kit. In fact I'd be glad to sell you just the hats and hub rings and you could buy the rotors direct from them
Costs the same per rotor whether I buy 20 or you buy 2.
As for differerences in the actual braking power between the stock and 4 piston calipers, there is none. The clamping forces are the same, as is the leverage force exerted on the rotor. The only major difference is the feedback thru the pedal the 4 piston caliper will give you over the stock caliper.
No 12" 1 piece rotor available.....you may have misunderstood that part

I'll start working on the 2 piece rear upgrade in about a month or so....it will be the same siz as the current 1 piece (11.4")
So I can get the two piece rotor upgrade and later when I have the money upgrade to the 4 pot calipers?
When you mean by pedal feedback, how is is improved? Would I be able to modulate my brakes better (such as the point before lockup)?

Yes, the 12.2" rotors are being designed so you can use both the stock calipers and the 4 piston calipers with the same rotor. To upgrade to the 4 piston all you need are the adapter brackets, calipers and brake line fittings...
A multi piston caliper will allow you to modulate the brakes with much more finesse than a single piston caliper. You will be able to take the car deeper into a corner with the same amount of braking force and then release the brakes later because you will feel what the brakes are doing thru the pedal much easier.

Right now I don't autocross, so I guess single would be fine for me. So for about 600 (395+179)I can get 12.2 two piece front and 11.4 one piece rear. Now we are talking. Are you cutting any deals for us on the 11.4 rear single piece? When will this be finalized? My guinea pig needs new brakes.
Hey Brian,
You keep going up & up in size! Why not just cut to the chase & make the 14 inch kits, front & rear!? Hehe...
Good job Brian. Keep it up.

hey immortal thats great you have huge brakes,
but those WHEELS are fawkin HEAVY too, so you just threw some performance out the window
buuuuuuu waaaah hhhhaaaaaahaaaaa haaaaa! take that!
brian I am emailing you about the rears right now if theyre $155!!!!!!

That definately works. Expect my order next month. I need tires really bad, after looking at them last night.
