I finally got around to using the jumper to determine the cause of my check engine light, it was 9 short flashes.. indicating:

No. 1 Cylinder Position Sensor


can someone clue me into this??? I have replaced the o2 sensor, so I'm sure that isn't the cause... but PLEASE would like help ASAP, as I"m just home (where my garage is) for a few days, and would like to remedy this problem!

The cyl pos sensor is in my distributor in the d16a6, Im not sure how it works on VTEC motors though. You may need another distributor.

the No.1 cyl position sensor sucks ***. does your car have one tiny miss at a certain RPM each time you start it up? take apart your distributor. i bet the thing is full of copper strands. those sensors just decide to disentigrate.
The CKP, TDC and CYP sensors are all in the dizzy

 

really?? just after x amount of miles? or years?? D'oh!!! didn't plan to put in a few more $100s when I first bought the car oh well, it is still a WONDERFUL condition EG si.

 

dude, all kinds of **** will go wrong when you first get a car. you just have to stick with it.

 

i'm not bitching, I got rid of my 97 del sol si for this... so I am GLAD to have NO car payments, and all.. so it'll be worth it :D

 

 

don't worry about it if you don't have the cash right now. I have a 92 si that is completely stock. I've been driving it around with 'code 9' for about 20k miles. It'll just skip at a certain RPM sometimes and the idle fluctuates, but other than that it should still run fine.

 

it could be many things... i put a new dizzy,coolant temp,plugs,wires, checked all the wiring from computer to dizzy, one thing you can try is run a jumper wire from the computer to the dizzy (by pass te cars wiring harness) and i solved my problem by switching the positive and negative wires on the dizzy and it works mint no codes or nothing.. hopefully this works for you as well
