Default question on future planned upgrades

Hi all,

I've currently got a '97 Integra LS 4door with a AEM CAI. I'm planning on building it up in the next 12 to 18 months. I want to get a header/exhaust, then a JRSC with the shortened pulley option. I also want to run a 50-75 nitrous setup.

My long overdue question is, what am i gonna have to do to the engine's internal's to keep it from blowing up? Cuz that would be bad .

Damn Grady!

You wanna run an SC with upgraded boost and N20???

Well you're gonna need forged pistons and better rods to start... You should also get the whole bottom-end balanced and whatnot.

For the head, you prob want some Stainless oversize valves so they don't melt like mine did from the N20 . SC/N20 specific headowork prob as well.

Are people running that much N20 on top of the SC? Awhile back I remember a few were experimenting with small shots, like 30-40 HP.

You may want to try the FI forum here and the FI board as well...

There's also the DFH list, but I don't think any of us have a setup like that?

Good luck,

Thanks Franz. Yeah, I'm not too sure about how much N2O to run, but I'd like to get the LS to about 275-280 hp at the motor. The SC should get me to about 200-210 at the motor (which is enough to kill me with! ), but I'd like to see a nice short time down the 1/4 mile (or to beat mustangs on the highway!)

Why not take the money you'd spend on a supercharger and NOS and get a turbo instead that will make as much boost as the SC and NOS combined? That would seem to make more sense to me. My $.02

I would like to maintain a bit of normalcy (sp?) in the way it drives, and i'm not a huge fan of turbos. My friend's 97 Eclipse GSX was way too spikey to be comfortable.

You can find a turbo that matches up well to your engine, and you won't have any issues with lag. Plus turbo's always allow for more power than SCers. Also, I imagine that turbo would be less stressful on the engine than a SC/NOS combo. Plus you can have that sweet BOV sound, lol I'm just trying to show you other options, SCers are good stuff, I just don't feel they're on the same plane as turbos. Let us know what you finally decide on doing with your engine build up!

hehe, no prob. I get all the "pahk tha cah" stuff up here.

BTW, can you tell me of any companies that could sell/make a turbo that would match the B18 well? It would have to be one badass turbo to effectively double the power of the LS!

I'll see what I can dig up. I do know of a GS-R engine equipped Civic HB running 10psi of boost. He's built up the engine, but also puts out 290 whp!
