Default ICM (Ignitor) keeps burning out

I just replaced the ICM after the original one failed to create a spark. I replaced it with a used one only to have the replacment ICM burn out a week later. Does anyone have a clue as to what could possibly cause two ICM's to fail in a row? I don't want to keep replacing it every week.

You don't happen to know what was wrong with the harness do you? Shorting out?

y8's don't have a valve cover ground. Could a bad ground cause the ICM to fry itself? Maybe I should replace my ground wires and clean the contact points.

I swear, if I put another one in there and it burns up again, I'm gunna be pissed.

there was a loose wire on the harness sliding outta the ecu and shorting it out.
fried the ecu into a limp mode and burned the ignitor twice. even burned out the coil..

i would check near the ecu for anything outta wack, rusted, etc.

What conversion harness for the ECU are you using?

You need a OBD1 to OBD2B ECU conversion harness. Then you should be fine with the OBD1 dizzy.
