on the d16y8 head where the vtec solenoid should be (behind the distributor) there is nothing....it looks like 5 bolt holes and a few other holes. what all do i need? just a vtec solenoid or is there some type of housing that has the knock sensor, and the solenoid attached to it. I have never seen a d16y8 so i am a little confused here. thanks guys!

well, if its not there, i would suggest getting one. mine came with the solenoid, so i dont know where exactly to get one, but you can get them new through majestic honda or maybe even the honda dealer, or you could snag one from a junkyard.

 

ok, so is it just the solenoid or is there more to it. I really don't want to be surprised when the solenoid won't bolt directly up to the block

actually....i won't be running vtec right away. the only reason i am getting this is to prevent oil from leaking out of my head.

can i run an engine without the solenoid or will oil leak from that location? thanks

 

crap.......i just saw a picture.....its a piece that mounts to the block and then the solenoid mounts to that.......ahh, anyone know where i can get one of those things????

yeah, i was just at my favorite one today.....i didn't see any. i really hate those j-yards that you tell the person what you want and they bring it back. they like to jack the prices up nice and high at those places
