how can you tell the difference?
color change = you will never know, if the proper paper work is filed.
imho, its your car, if you want to do it, do it.,

Just make sure if you do paint the car, you paint the inside of the engine bay, and take out all the panels and rugs and do it the right way. dont do some outer body panel-only crap job!
Do you plan to gut your engine bay to paint over ALL the black? If you're so concerned about resale value, you might look into how much a "complete" paint job will run you. You might be surprised how expensive it is.

I would bet with the cost of paint + the loss in resale, it would be cheaper in the long run to sell yours, and buy a PY one. I would maybe be willing to trade my PY..

i knew i was going to get these"Do want you want answers", but the fact of when I do sell the car, the buyer might get worried if the car has been hit or not. The R is in the shop already, I dropped it off lat friday, they are just waiting for my decision on what I want. If they do paint it yellow, the engine bay will not be painted, only the door jams, hod and trunk jams etc....

Then keep it black.

The value will drop whether you paint it yellow or repaint it black.

If you like yellow better then paint it yellow. Im sure your not going to have trouble selling it anyway. But you may have to wait longer then say a person with a perfectly owned factory yellow itr. Id say stick with black or trade yours for a yellow one. It would only make sense to do it that way to me......thats my 2 cents.
I would just repaint the damaged areas back to black. Going from black to yellow would be a pretty big production (as stated above).
I think that violates the Honda Tech Integra Type R Forum Code #115-710, amendment 3, clearly stated in Section 12 of the handbook.

If you have a black or white car, go ahead and paint it whatever color you want. If you have a yellow or any other color you would have to paint the whole car to make it look right.
Just do what you want to do, its your car. The value of it will go down no matter what. No point in trying to impress people here on HT.

Appropriate paperwork? You mean amend the registration, insurance documets, etc.?
It would be extremely difficult (read: expensive) to do a thorough enough colour change to eradicate every last trace of the car's original paint, and even so the original colour may be traceable through the VIN. Not sure about ITRs, but in many cases the orginal colours of vintage cars are traceable, and the most desireable ones are the ones that do not deviate from original, even if the car has been repainted.
Note that I am not giving an opinion regarding what this guy should do with his car because that is not what he asked for. All I'm saying is from what I know of vintage cars, it is typically more desireable to have the original paint colour.

Thanx for all your info

It's not that it's unacceptable...it's just lame if he's not going to do it right.
You'll look like some half-assed ricer, if that floats your boat.
If I were buying an ITR, and I came upon a yellow one with a black engine bay, I'd stay far, far away. But that's just me.
