Anyone auto X their ITR?
Just wondering if anyone else auto X their itr? what kind of suspension? and also is there any good places to take my R to have a good alignment in the bay area? thanks!!!!!
Check out the RoadRace/Autox forum, ask there and you'll get a number of ITR autoxers. Here too, but that one is specifically for racing.
Theres 2 guys who do near me. One is stock, the other has groundcontrolls with 500/400(I think) springs. The modified one has 1/16(I think) toe-out in the front, and 0 toe in the back.
The Type R is an incredible car for autox and is very competitive in a few classes. Autox on stock suspension in a stck class for a time and learn what it can and cannot do (and what you can and cannot do) and then go from there. The R suspension can be improved upon but it is not something you should rush into without understanding the car, its balance and you driving style...
Have fun.

Yes, the ITR is a great autocross car.
I'd run the car stock for a while until you get more comfortable with it. Out of the box it is a great car, and is one of the cars to beat in it's class (D Stock). It's a fun and rewarding car to drive, and a blast to autocross.
Once you are ready to upgrade the car, there's ton's of good info and advice in the road race/autocross forum.
Good luck.

Yes. Just autocrossed yesterday and learned some important lessons in lift-throttle oversteer.
Stock suspension is good enough for me (and I'm not yet good enough for anything else).

autox comes down to drive ability and tires. I saw a stock Celica GT out drive a stock 00 or 01 ITR.
Celica had a very good driver and autox slicks. She was out driving some of the 911's lol.
The stock ITR out drove the turbo ITR aswell. It really comes down to being comfortable with your car and learning it well.

Really? ITR's 'cross in D-Stock all the time over here.
LSD is also legal in SP i believe.

The ITR and its LSD is perfectly legal in stock class...

ITRs run in D-stock as long as they dont have mods that would kick them out of that class.
If you have coilover-type susp or header, you have to go to STX.

Our Region does not allow it, from the get go I started running in STX, now I am in SM because of mods, but every ITR that has ran runs STX, one time one ran in STS cause no one complained about it.
Maybe I am wrong???
I'll check the rule book......

The ITR is definitely DS legal! Check out the SCCA National Championship DS (GS) results for the last 4-5 years. ITR, ITR, ITR, ITR, lol. Endicott (ITR), Fauth x2 (ITR), McCormick (ITR).

The first times I ran I was told I had to run in STX by a lot of people and that it was because of the LSD. Oh well, I'm not there anymore.
You learn something new everyday.

What car where you driving. It also sounds like you could have driven SM as well. The 911 and Cameros were probably not in your class, however, the FFR Cobra, Starlet and Corollas are in OSP.
It's possible that the club you're autocrossing with is running different rules, and because of that they put the ITR in a different class.
However, per SCCA rules, the ITR is legal for D Stock, assuming you haven't modified it beyond the Stock rules.
