Keep my Sotck USDM GSR or Go B20 VTEC?
Right now I have in my 91 hatch a stock 2000 GSR w/ a type r header. I was thinking of either swapping in a ported and polished B16 head and upgrade to gray plug running a chipped P28. I also have an offer to swap my GSR for a brand new stock B20 w/ a stock B16 head. Should I keep my GSR and bnuild on it w/ the B16 head or go B20. It's a daily driver and I can't have my car down for longer than a couple of days. Thanks in advance and any comments welcomed.
If you simply plan on putting a B16 Head on a stock GSR block, be prepared to have lower compression numbers and therefore less power.
Why dont' you just port & polish your GSR head and throw in some cams if that's what you want
As for the b20vtec, i'd keep the GSR, sleeve it and be on your way
that's just me though

So, you don't think I'll get better flow out of a alaniz ported and polished B16 head? I should port and polish my GSR haed and add some cams?? What cams do you recomend? what else can I do to get a lil' more top end?? Skunk2 manifold?? Should I get cams or manifold first?
Get the B16 head and get the intake valve ports bored out to 34mm, then install Skunk2 or Crower stage 2 cams with upgraded valvetrain parts. Get a skunk2 or Edelbrock intake manifold to go with it. You'll also want more revs up to 9,000rpm from that p28 when you're finished.
You should be able to build the head yourself, or have someone do it without touching your car. Then when it's all ready, install it in less than a day.
Should give you 30hp without much downtime on your car.
If you want more compression get the head milled while it's being machined.

with stage 2 cams you will need more compression. id reccomend if you would go this route to get some jdm itr pistons or some pr3 b16 pistons. dont bother milling the head down. but honestly id just get head work done to your p72 head. get some CTR cams and type r dual valve springs and retainers. mild port and polish and a skunk 2 mani. do not get an edlebrock mani unless you are going FI or if you plan on doing a crazy all motor set-up that revs to 10K. id say keep the gsr motor and build it up. its worth more than a stock b20 vtec and has the same if not more potential in the long run when you start building it.
just my 2 cents. its really up to you

Great, I got allot of ideas now for my GSR. I think I'm gonna build a B16 head. I think I'll be happier then to start all over w/ a b20 + not have to worry if the sleeves will hold up. Thanks to all! I'm gonna go w/ a skunk2 mani.

I dont think sleeving will change the r/s ratio. You can change the R/S ratio if you change the the crank or the length of the rods.
