Default rocker arm wear with certain (cough TODA cough) cams?

The only instance I'd previously heard of was with Tuan's gsr motor and spec b's.....

Now other people are claiming rocker arm wear with spec b's?

Anybody got some links or something?

I was unable to find anything in a search...

And fwiw: no rocker arm wear or retainer galling upon recent inspection in my old itr motor with 10k miles on spec b's and portflow retainers.....

I run the Spec-C's and recently had to yank my valve cover, and don't see any sort of abnormal wear on mine.

It all depends on which springs you're running. The amount of spring tension will vary between manufacturers thus giving you different amounts of wear. On that note, don't buy Rev springs, the set we tested were stiff enough to leave a nice groove from the rockers in a set of ITR cams, which aren't even all that high lift.

I know of dino (comptechgsr) had some rocker arm wear on his gsr with toda b's

it certainly is possible.

but I think new rocker arm complete set/kit thing is only 200ish

just a pain to replace. I dont know if you have to take out the head to get to them if needed replacement?

every set of rockers i've had my hands on has wear due to the skinny cam lobe on stock cams.

higher valve springrates would potentially add to possible rocker wear, however, i'm much happier running todas that have the big wide lobe where the stock one is thin as a grin.

you do NOT have to pull the head to replace rocker arms/rails.

cool, i didnt think so. just looks like you need to take out all bolted on parts that are attached to the head.

Why would rocker arm wear be brand specific? I would think the combination of cam lobe size/shape, spring tension, valve lash settings, and frequency of usage would determine wear on the rockers. I can't see one company being better or worse than another, the possibility of wearing the rockers more quickly would just be something that goes with using big cams on a daily driver.

but you will have to put holes in your engine bay.....so the arms come out far enough so you can pull #1's rockers... (this was on a sir ONE head)

In terms of rocker wear, you should just look for abnormal grooving in the rockers...anything that you can feel I think I would consider abnormal.....you can see it a bit, but it shouldn't be deep enough to make an impression....at least not much of one any way.....
