Default Moving up to GS-R from 93si

Hi people.
I'm one of those old farts talked about in here occasionally, driving a single-owner Civic SI. I found a repo'ed 2000 GSR with 37K on it at the credit union and getting it for 12.5K - tomorrow
It's black with black leather and never been modified. It drives like a new car, though it's a little hot here in Florida.
I've been looking for a year or so for a newer car, my '93 has almost 190K on it, and this Integra is the best deal I've seen. The RSX is nice, but the GSR is just as fun and alot less money. After driving the SI with an short intake and Apexi WS the 'teg seems like it doesn't make any noise at all.
Do you think I should get an AEM short intake, a CAI scares me with these huge puddles, or just leave it alone for a while?
The insurance wasn't too bad, only increased $400 a year, but then I'm "over 40"
The good news is I have just as much fun driving as I did at 17. My son, who is 18, thinks I should get an LS instead because the GSR is for racing. I say .
Anyways, I can't WAIT.
PS. I posted the 93Si in the classified

sounds like a good deal. i'd go with an icebox setup...all the advantages of a CAI w/ no water worries.

and as far as your insurance going up.....i was going to say that $400 is quite an increase for someone over 40, but then i took into consideration that you are going from a 93 to a 2000.

have fun with it

Yep, I'm selling it. I put an ad in the clasified section of this board. I really hate to give it up. It has been a great car. I am just bored with it. I had an '84 Civic S thay I put 246K miles on and traded it in for this one with the original clutch. This SI is still working fine, but I don't want to bother with an engine swap and all the headaches that go with it. I am getting tired of having other cars blow past me on the causeway. I could put a better camshaft and valves in it , but then I would still have the same old car and I would like to drive a coupe for a change after driving hatchbacks for 20 years now. I'm asking $4000 and will put that towards the GSR to lower payments. email me at jcarr@rapidsys.com.

Drove the car home today
Well, first I had to stop at the Acura dealer to enter the code for the radio as a new battery was installed. First I took my daughter for a ride, then my wife to look at the sunset, then my daughter and her friend. Drove it pretty steady for about 4 hous
What an awesome car! I found out from the credit union that it wasn't a repo, it was a lease return. Absolutely MINT condition. The passenger seat looks like it's never even been sat in. The ashtray, lighter, spare tire and even the jack have never been used. The owners manual and all original paperwork was in the glove box. All except the radio code, of course
The engine has a little dust on it and all fluids look good. The oil is CLEAR! The engine and tranny are silky smooth. I'm in love with this car.
Thanks evryone for the congrats and well wishes.
Naturally, I had people trying to make me go fast, like a 3000GT and a BMW 325 and even a freakin' van. Sheez. I didn't have this much trouble in my Civic
My '93 SI is now sitting in the driveway with no tag or insurance. I either have to sell it for a decent price or make room in the garage for it. It has 186K miles and runs great.
I can't wait to drive it across the bay to work tomorrow.
All this after having the dentist drilling and burning me this morning for two hours.

I have had the car two days now and it is quite a change from the 93 Civic Si. Now I have BMWs and 3000 GTs trying to get me to race instead of metros and riced out civics.
I don't have any pics yet. It is a stock Black 2000 GSR. It looks new.

Dude, i can't believe that your son told you to get a ls over gsr, and said that gsr was for racing... He really doesn't know hondas. Get the CAI, I've had it for 2 years now, and I live in rainy seattle, had no problem whats so ever. Just don't mesh your gas pedals when you drive over huge water pools, it's very hard to suck up water through your filter, up to tube, and into the intake manifold. I wished I had gotten the gsr, but couldn't afford it nor the insurance at the time.

My son had a 1990 LS Integra and totaled it when some kid pulled in front of him at 3AM. Now he drives the 91 MR2 turbo and races it on Saturday nights at the track. I think he wanted me to get him a blow-off valve instead of making a car payment. He's away this week and when he returns on Saturday he's going to have a fit, mostly because I'm going to have my car in the garage and not his
Oh WELL. I told him to join the army if he has a problem.

That name sucks anyways, whats so original about it? "I have a five speed Integra" Great! Your just like rest of us....

Good stuff man, its cool to see an old man around here. I think you should get a short ram. Its cheap, and give very nice gains, sounds pretty good too. Nice find, I hope you enjoy it.
