Default Type-R LSD on GSR....Benefits?

I was just wondering what the main benefits of a R LSD on my GSR would be (cornering, wet/dry starts etc..). Also, how much should I expect for installation?

none. My friend has a ITR LSD in his Scd GSR. I can't tell its there, well unless we are taking a turn fast or what not and you can feel both tires spinning/pulling.

Your car will corner waay better under power, handle better in rain and snow, launch better, and generally do everything better if it involves your foot being on the gas pedal. No more "one-wheel burnouts" and you can floor it in any corner as soon as the front wheels are pointed where you want to go.

Hello all, how much does a new Type-R tranny cost and how much to do the install?
Just curious because it sounds like I have the same problem but it sounds like its coming from the rear. Maybe a bad whell bearing?....Any suggestions.

Hi,

An ITR lsd should not be noisy at all. My KAAZ clutch-type on the other hand makes lots of noise.

Your rpm WILL go up for a given gear at every speed. This is what it means to have closer gearing

I went one step further and put a USDM ITR Tranny in my GSR with the 4.75 JDM FD (vs 4.4).

This means my gears are even closer than a USDM ITR, I guess about 8% shorter?

At 80 mph, I'm spinning about 4700 rpm. Not that great for hwy mileage, but it's very nice to have the tight gearing...

do u think by putting a full type R trans with the LSD in a GSR will make it any faster in the qtr???

just wondering,,if it would make a improvement id b willing to spend the 1200$$ or so on a used one

i would just like to know if it will really help
all i have is the basic I/H/E
but i have run a couple of 14.9's in the qtr

how much do u think the R trans will cut off of that time??

thanks mike

Hi,

I was referring to the guy who was thinking about putting a whole ITR tranny in his GSR. The LSD alone would not affect rpm, sorry for the confusion.

Someone posted that the ITR tranny in a GSR would net a few tenths in a 1/4 mile race. Not sure on specifcs. If you stay all motor I really think it's one of the best mods you can do... I'm prob a little extreme with the JDM FD though, but what can you do

i would like to get the R trans,,,
i am gonna just stay all motor for a while until i have enough $$ for a turbo,,or if the vortec SC comes out,,and has good #'s for the GSR

and if i get a turbo or SC isnt it better to go with a LS trans??

i am gonna b on the lookout for a used R trans,,
does anyone know how much time it may take off the qtr ,,if u just had I/H/E???

if i get the R trans i may just not do any more mods to my GSR,,so i can start doing stuff to my 90 civic

thanks mike
