4th Gen Trip Meter malfunction
Hi.
The trip meter in my 93 Prelude is not working. where it should be adding numbers it just makes a very annoying clicking sound
Does anyone know a quick and easy way to just disconnect the damn thing? It's not a big deal but it's annoying, so if anyone could help that'd be great.
Thanks,
preludeChaos

Same thing happened on my 92 Si.
I don't know about disconnecting, but the whole thing is motor driven and has a neat little plug from the motor so you could try disconnecting that. Problem is that you will need to remove the instrument cluster to get at it (not too hard to do) and it may trip an engine code perhaps.
You can fix it as well if you wanted. I found that on mine the gears that drive the odometer were binding up at 87999.9 for some reason, so I manually rotated the gears until it wound over and the binding disappeared. I think this may happen to m again at about 187999.9 as well
Hope it helps.
