hi guys, i just recieved my wiring harness in the mail today so i can complete my mpfi swap, i noticed that on one of the metal brackets that mounts the harness to the bay has a stamp that reads PM5, is this an si harness, did i get screwed into buying this harness? it has the 4 injector plugs, it looks like an si harness, but i thought the si ECU is a PM6. SOMEONE HELP!!

 

The PM5 is the 89-91 dx, so you have a dx harness but its been rewired for mpfi.

 

just so i understand, i have a dx harness that has already been modified for an si mpfi swap? so i shouldn't have to rewire anything. if somebody can tell by looking at a picture of what i've got maybe it would pose a better idea. copy the item number and paste it on the ebay search bar. 2425116822 any help before i start cutting would be great. thanks.

you are suppose to get a pm6 wire harness. I dont think the harness you got was converted.

 

if you have a DX, then i believe you have the correct harness - to do MPFI swap on the DX you need to use the DX harness and modify it for the MPFI - Si harness will not work with the DX cabin harness

 

true. the best way to do it is to modify a DX harness. It's not hard, I can do it. If you did get a modifyed DX harness, you still have to do a little re-wiring at the ECU, again it's not hard.

 

damn, gotta watch those wiring harness as i ended up getting FIVE harnesses for two cars...long story but just be careful cause you want to do as few mods as possible to the oem wiring

 

great guys, all these replies are awesome, but what should i do? should i assume that the harness i have is a modified dx harness? or, should i cut the connectors i need off the harness and use them on mine? one more thing, the guy i got it from says that 90-91 si is PM6, is that ture, cuz the harness he says is off an 88, and if its off an 88 si would that make it a PM5? thanks again guys.

all 88-91 Si's are PM-6 - i would take the connectors off that harness and put them on your DX - you know yours is a DX, but you don't know what he sold you - one of the best DPFI to MPFI sites http://www.fourthgenhatch.com/mpfi.html

 

Also remember, not all harnesses are a direct plug in interchange. I think the 88, 89 and 90-91 are all different between them.
