Default gsr vs. prelude

Alright guys, I've been driving my 95 Jetta GL for a while now and I'm pretty much getting bored with how slow it is. So I've decided to go Honda. So pretty much I've narrowed it down to a 94 Prelude vtec and a 94 Integra gsr. Question is, how do these two compare in terms of acceleration, handling, braking, etc. I just need a little help in deciding between the two. Thanks!

Ahh here we go again...the Prelude VTEC has better acceleration, handling and braking in stock form. The prelude is somewhat heavier but has more power. The GSR has a 'bigger' aftermarket in terms of selection, but you can get what you need for both cars.

It really comes down to what car you like to drive better, and which one looks better. Considering you are asking these questions you must not be test driving them...

My Si keeps up with GSRs and with an intake and echuast I beat stock GSRs so.... I'm 100% sure that VTEC ludes are faster than GSRs given bolth drivers are even.

Well, let's just say that I recall this quote, "The Prelude is the best Integra ever made".

LMFAO

I had a '94 Integra LS and now I have a '01 Prelude. When my LS was an automatic with I/H/E/TB/cams/cam gears, I used to beat every I/H/E GSR I ran into by about 1-2 cars.

I was like, damn... GSR's are slow as *****.

After I got my GSR tranny put into my LS, I looked at GSR's almost as if they were Civics.

To tell you the truth, most GSR's on stocks w/I/H/E were running 15.8-16.0 and I've seen Preludes pull 15.0-15.4's all day long.

As far as handling, I've gotta say that the Integra is by far, more nimble through the corners. The only problem is that the rear end is so light, I've spun it around 3 times. Once at over 100mph. Scared the **** outta me.

The Prelude is really nose heavy so the car wants to plow into corners. The severe tire wear the tracks indicate excessive weight with too much understeer.

The Integra was real easy to create a little oversteer by bringing the rear end up a bit on some coilovers. The Prelude still digs into corners because of the extra weight up front.

Anyways... the Prelude is by far a better car to drive around on a daily basis. The torquey engine doesn't need to be revved as high as the Integras to zip you around town. That's my two cents.

I've got to say that when my lude was completely stock, bolt-on gsr integs were no problem in a race.

I see stock OBD 1 (94-95) GSR's run low 15's all day. I/H/E will run high 14's without a problem.

As for handling the teg is going to handle the prelude is practically a boat.

Of course everyone here is gonna say ludes because it is a lude forum, as for these race stories your hearing, they all depend on driver, suspension setup as well as engine mods. I beat a vtec I/H 95 Lude and then someone else with the same car could beat me. Are you going to autox or drag race? what will the car be used for?

You are on crack if you think a 4th Prelude outhandles a DC2 GSR. Handling is very weight dependent. Since they have very similiar suspension setups and can run about the same width tires the Integra should outhandle the Prelude. However, the Prelude makes up for that with extra power. In the road racing series I run the Prelude VTEC is classed higher than the GSR and there is a good reason for that. The Prelude has more power and torque. As said above drive em both and buy one. You really can't go wrong. If you have a lot of money to spend on mods I would have to with the Teg. I am more of a Prelude fan but you can get anything you can dream of for the GSR.

My Integra weights 2575 with 200 lb driver, full tank of gas, cooler full of ice for my cool suit and 60 lbs of lead weight. It is lighter. Period.

I have only weighed it with half a tank and it was 2308. But it is a stripped road race car. But regardless, as Corey aka 318dx will tell you, you just can't get a Prelude down to a Teg's weight. But given the same level of modification the Prelude will still be faster on a road course.

1. TEST DRIVE BOTH OF THEM.
2. You'll tell the difference.
3. Then make YOUR own choice.

Oh, sorry. They were referring to to VTEC Prelude.

Yeah, test drive both cars and decide.

I will tell you one thing..the 4th Gen Ludes DON'T HAVE BACKSEATS. You can only fit baggage or very small children back there.
I am not sure what the rearseats are like in Integras though.

Good luck.

a 4th gen vtec vs a gsr...haha, dont try and kid yourselves boys.

these threads are pointless and biased.

I personally love the way the 4th gen looks, i think tegs get JDM front ends so they can look more like us (haha jk )

if anything, get the prelude because the gsr will be jacked
