How do you properly gap spark plugs?
man... you dont no some fancy gapper that cost like 10 dollars or something, jus go to pep boys or kragen and get a spark plug gapper for 99 cent. jus cause it has a fancy name or made by some big shot company doesnt mean other cheaper ones wont gap spark plugs the same as the more fncy ones. dont waste your money.
one thing you don't want to do is put something between the two pieces and pry, it will scar both of the pieces and you will end up wearing out your plugs prematurely. oh and the bad thing about the pep-boys $0.99 gapper, it is impossible to evenly gap each spark plug. at least use a set of feeler guages to do it, if nothing else.
Yes,
I have bought a few of the cheapie ones, and they are "slanted" Like you put the plug in with a setting that fits, then rotate the plug and the increeased thickness pushes the gap bigger. As stated, this isn't going to be that accurate or consistent.
I'll prob get some feeler gauges, then maybe I can use them for my valve adjustments as well (when I learn how to do that)
