Ok guys i need a bit of help on picking my turbo, I tried the nissan sites but there all about little turbos and drifting. I had an hks2030 it was ok but not much power, just a bit bigger than stock setup. As of now i am running a stock setup with fuel pump, FMIC, bov and and i hit a 8.6 on stock boost in the 8th so its not to bad. ill be getting a power FC and 750 injectors very soon, i have just gotten my top mount manifold and wastegate is on the way, but i am yet to pick a turbo. I have been looking at the SC61 im shooting for 425hp or in that area. But i just dont want to over kill the setup with a turbo thats to big. This is a car i drive to wrok everyday, but even witht he wastegate open and zero psi of boost the car is fine to drive so im not worried to much about spool time. any ideas would be great, i have my sorces for the turbo if tis precision, so you dont have to recomend ART. go with an SC61 or 63....or be a big baller and get a GT30

 

SC61 fo shizzle. It'll support 500+ to the ground, has a very broad efficiency range, and will spool quicker than a 60-1

Yeah the auto to man is a biatch, i hear ya there. Mine has been running for about 8 months i drive it to work everyday. very reliable car, never had to touch the motor excep for a boost leak (loose hose clamp). The other thing in that i dont have to much room to play with so i wanted the v-band setup. I am told the t4 exhaust housing on the sc61 comes with a v-band, but my manifold is for a t3. Hum pluss the v-band adapter thing is just going to take more room. what does the sc61 use for a flange on the exhaust when you get the t3 setup? a 5 bolt?

 

A friend here in Okinawa made 399whp from with an HKS T04S (60-1 blade in an AR.70 housing). Limiting factors were the small ex housing (O trim AR.50) and the 60mm portion of the DP. He is looking to upgrade to an AR.58 housing and 76mm DP. With the those upgrades, more tuning and installation of the HKS stage III cams he will apex 500whp with no problems.

 

yes, the sc-61 uses a 5 bolt exhaust housing. how much power are you looking to make exactly? maybe we can interest you in a small hair dryer?

Get one of my adapters...t3 to t4 or t4 to t3 if you choose

 

im shooting for 425hp-450hp. a si am keeping the bottom end stock. would the t4 be better or the t3 eshaust housing? oh whats the price on one of those hair dryers?

 

a local guy with a red top is using a to4e 50 trim t3 stage III .63 a/r and is making 470 hp at 24 psi with a jim wolf ecu...

Err, no. Enjuku is running a stage 5 wheel, and management is the Power FC, tuned by Secret Service's guru Enthalpy

 

do you want that level on pump gas?
What is your head set up (cams, intake manifold)? What are you running for engine management? Theres more to it than slapping on a big turbo and throwing some fuel at it. Especially if you want it to be reliable.

 

just greedy intake manifold, dont worry it will all be tunned issac form elite motorsports they have a few sr20's pushing over 400 hp, so im not worried in that department. I would like at least 350 on pump gas. Also yeah i know i will need more parts cams and stuff but i want the get the right turbo first rather than trying to sell the wrong one later. whats the power diffrence in say a t3/04 and a sc61 is the sc61 worth the extra money?

get a nice t3/t4, or something balling if your a baller, like hks 3040

 

If you don't want to spend a ton of money, get a 50-trim compressor wheel and whatever hot side stuff you want. The 50 trim is BY FAR the best wheel for all-around performance, and is capable of almost 500 whp on a 2.0 liter.

If you want to go better than this, then I would suggest one of the GT series turbos. The GT35 or the GT35R is probably the size range you'd want.

I traded that for a 79 gmc jimmy, and then i sold it as it got baad gas milage. I only needed it to pickup my front clip. Torr has the escort now but the tranny took a **** last week, he got a 88 ford temp for $110 at the auction today. fords rule

with stock cams GReddy intake manifold isn't helping you at all. You do realize this, right? The Sc61 is WAY over kill for what you are trying to do. A SC50 would do what you want without the lag of the sc61. So would a GT2835 or a GT25R
