what boost levels can d16 pistons take....what happens when they fail
as the title states.......what happens when they fail and what psi can they handle on a tuned ecu with LS rods....this is a freshly rebuilt mini me engine with 0 miles
Its kinda hard to put that "special number" on how much power the D16 pistons can take.
It only takes one shot of detonation to take a piston out, so tune carefully.

The A6 pistons tend to break ringlands between the 2 compression rings.
My friend just did a compression test on his greddy turbo'd A6 and one was really low, so he pulled the pistions. One piston was done, but when he pulled the other ones they almost fell apart in his hands. Now he's putting Z6 pistions in it.

thanks for the replies........anyone know if JE 9:1 pistons will fit on LS rods or will I have to use my Crower rods (may need to be machined after the engine i had them in locked up)
