Believe it or not-an Oval track also has a distinct line that you need to use. Each car handles differently and how you apply power will be a factor as well-take your time and learn.

I've never gotten to drive an oval but have aways wanted to (hell, I'll drive anything given the chance including a riding mower). Much of it depends on the track itself whether it is flat (possibly a more traditional outside-inside-outside line) or banked (a rounder line staying more with the curve of the track) and if the banking is a consistent rate or progressive. If the corners are tight then you might try to diamond it off more if the car will turn and therefore give yourself more straight away. Also be very careful of turning in too early and over-anticipating the corner (especially if it is tight or flat) as that can track you out too early causing you to lift and turn to fight understeer at exit and thus losing huge acceleration room at the beginning of the straight.

Lots of variables for just 15 laps but maybe you can watch some in advance and try some game plan going in. If you can left foot brake a bit to keep the turbo spooled and the boost up, you will have more power and torque out of the hole each time. If you are shifting at all on track, set yourself such that you have shifted down well in advance of the apex (during braking or around turn-in time) or power application point so you have a clean shot at balancing the car using both throttle and brake and have a good shot at rolling confidently into the power as early as possible. Since this is new to you, probably better to set yourselfd up to maximize the straights by getting a good exit rather than trying to carry big speed mid-corner then risking blowing your acceleration room. In early laps, you might go in thinking about the "slow-in and fast-out" midset to get yourself going then adapt it as you see how it works.

If the car has an understeer tendency, you really want to make sure that it is not at exit so adjust rear dampers, air, sway bar, whatever so the car will rotate early or at mid- corner so understeer and scrub are minimized. Don't make it so loose that you can't do the first part of the corner without getting silly but have your turning business done as early as possible to make mid -corner to exit all about power down and unwinding the wheel. If the car still understeers at exit, soften the front shocks or even sway bar some.

Lots of info and variables for a short session but have fun. FWDs can do better on ovals (especially less banked ones) than some people think if you drive them right but traditional front drive understeer is just going to be a killer. Have fun, smile big.
