Default HELP.......girl with a GSR

Hey I just bought a 97 black GSR with 92K miles and I dont know what to do. I want to make it a quality car, but I have no clue where to start. If any of you guys have any recommendations as to what I should do please let me know. Anything, minor or major to make it a nice car, I'm clueless as to what it needs. Im going to be honest, I dont know the first thing about cars but I want to learn. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

welcome What do you want to do with your car? What do you use it for? Do you use it as a daily driver? Do you want it to go fast? Look good? Just be a solid runner? By determining what you want/need, you the board will be able to point you in the right direction. Congrats on the purchase! Have fun

92 thousand miles is a lot...if u have the money i would jus do what everyone else does...swap the motor for a new gsr or whatever u want.... good luck with it tho...

Learn its limits and characteristics before you mod it. It's a great car with tons of potential. I'd start out with some suspension and brake mods before doing anything to the motor. I think you picked the right site. Also check out the articles on http://team-integra.net. They have tons of info on Integras. Use the search button and have fun!

hello girl with GSR.

1. learn to drive a clutch
2. find out if the scheduled maintenance work is needed and have it done
3. give it a good wash / claybar / wax and snap some photos and post them in the appearance section.
4. Congrats on finding an integra and welcome to H-T

what are you smoking? 92k on a honda is just getting broken in. many a member on this board have 100k++ and are boosting etc.....no problems.

i'd start with the basics.....intake/headers/exhaust....then maybe some suspension changes (lowering springs and shocks along with some better sway bars).

get some good tires too....one of the best mods you can do for handling (think yokohama ES100's)

Right now I just drive to work pretty much daily. I'd like it to go fast just on occasions like most poeple would, but I wont be racing it or anything so its not all that important. Mainly I just want it to look nice and sound nice. I've seen plenty of Intergras all suped up and look like ****. They buy cheap crap and totally ruin it. I dont want to do that. I think it looks nice how it is now but I want to make some modifications on it I just have no clue what so I didnt know if anyone had any ideas as to what might be good. Also any thing mechanically that would improve the quality of the cars. Thanks guys...

If she had the $ in hand to do a motor swap then don't you think he would have bought a newer one with less miles . Welcome to honda-tech this is a very informative site, and yes the search button will yield you more information than you have time for. Do some research figure out what you want out of the car and then go from there.

one of the best ways i can think of to improve appearance is to get aftermarket wheels and tires. if you want better sound, get an aftermarket catback; or if you want a unique sound, a jrsc wouldnt hurt.

Do you know if the timing belt has been changed? This is a very important maintence requirement of 90k miles. Glad to hear that you wont be ricing the car out . Sounds like maybe a few bolt ons and a little comsetic work will satisfy you. What kind of cosmetic mods are in your taste mild, wild? I think maybe an Type R front lip, nice suspension, I/h/e (intake, header, exhuast) would be a good start.

Yeah I dont know for sure that the timing belt hasnt been replaced but Im almost positive it hasnt. I already made an appointment to get that taken care of along with the waterpump and all that other good stuff. That gets pretty pricey but I guess its better than having it break and ruin my whole freakin engine.

I think you should save up money for a nice drop. Spend a lil more money on a nice setup and save yourself some trouble later on. And the ride would be more comfy too.

You are right, there are quite a few things that need to be changed/looked at/checked at about 90K..........but this is $$ well spent if you are planning on driving the car for a while.

in stock trim, gsrs are pretty quick already. learn to really drive your car ie. it's handling characteristics, shifting points, downshifting techniques, etc. then do a clean drop with some springs/shocks. add a type r swaybar to rid yourself of understeer and you're set.

proceed with i/h/e after that.

then newer gsr rims if you'd like. or just get some nice grippy tires.

I am surprised nobody has asked for a pic of the girl with a GSR. I say let the leg humping begin.

I think it's pretty funny that since the word "girl" is in the title, this thread got tons of views and replies in a very short amount of time. If some guy asked the same question, you'd all be telling him to search.

dang I was very surprised and pleased w/ the maturity of everybody not doing the leg humping thing and all that, then you had to come in and start it.

I would start with the basic maintenance items like the timing belt, brakes, etc.
