Default eg with B16a vs eg with B18b Ls

if u take a mostly stock eg and swap in a b16a2 or a B18b ( both jdm ) witch would be quicker?

i would think the b18b would be easier to launch and quick of the line with the more torque but the b16 is putting out more top end. wht do u guys think?

it would be pretty close, but the b16 should win.

Stock for Stock it SHOULD be the B16a but there are to many variables, ie Driver, condition of engine, clutch. it really depends.

If were talking same driver and both engines in exact same condition then the B16a should win but it would be close.

A kid around here had a B18b coupe stock running 14.6 If the b18b had a B16 tranny it'd be a different story indeed. 1/4 mile wise.

i can vouch for the ls

got one in my 94 ex and love it
lots low end power but not much top end but ripps off the line
still been able to beat some b16 civics
ls motors are also cheaper
i just got some cams and it should put down as much or even more hp than the b16 with lots more tourque also i dont have to rev the **** out of the motor to get power

i think b16 should win it easily... although the ls motor has a strong amount of torque.the b16 just simply has a better tranny for 1/4 times.... the ls gears are longer and is great for turbo but if both was bone stock the ls cant stand a chance..... i got a ls motor either way kuz i went turbo
but if youre trying to decide on a motor.... it would really depend how you want the car to perform and what you expect to get out of it ...properly tuned both motors are awesome

going all motor which would respond better to basic boltons?

ive seen b16 graphs were the motor gained 20 hp (at the crank) from an intake and exhaust.

can expect the same from the b18b.
another thought what about getting smaller tires to help the ls get shorter gearing?

believe it bitch!!! it was me u can ask anyone from south brunswick about it. i ran 14.7 in it and my freind tim(who is also a honda-techer) ran it 14.6. i have also raced a b16 coupe and the outcome was me winning by a car length. if u want i will scan or try to the slip to show u. my car is a 2400 pound 95 dx coupe on bald tires making this run. in my opinion b16s arent worth it unless u boost them.

true, the B16 would win.
The biggest factor would be the gear ratio.
B16A has way tigther gearing vs. the LS's longer ratios.

If you put a B16 tranny on an LS engine then race both engines in stock form, same cloned driver and everything, I bet the LS would win, but not by much.

your cool

ya could of just replied..."hey i am the one that ran the 14.7 with the stock LS blah blah blah"...thanx for bein a dick

im not sure on how much an integra LS weighs...but im not see'n as how the same exact engine(no matter what tranny) would run that fast in a 2400lb coupe with bald tires

slips can easily be cheated...i wanna see a pic of your car on the track with the #s up on the board to believe that
