1990 B18A with more than bolt-ons...should I use chip + SAFC or go OBD1 + Hondata?
My motor(well, I'm got the parts, its not assembled yet)
1990 B18A1
Crane #12 cams
P30 pistons with OEM 3 layer head gasket(11:1 comp)
PnP Head
Ported manifold
I/H/E
Stock injectors(sending thme to be cleaned/flow tested)
Really wanted to go with a Hondata system, which would be tuned specifically for my engine. But...they don't do an ODB0 system for the PR4...
So, then I was planning on running an Ericks racing chip, and a SAFC for final tuning.
Would if be better for me to get a OBD1 computer, convert my harness, and get an OBD1 Dizzy and 4 wire O2, and then run a Hondata system? I admit, I really like the idea of Hondata, rather than a generic chip.
Just wanted to get others opinions. I'm an Automotive/Electrical engineer, I'm very used to building wire harnesses, and soldering chips much smaller than the old DIP stuff in these ECUs, so none of the wiring work either way scares me, and I have to tools to do the work correctly.
Besides the distributor and O2 sensor, is there anything else than needs to be changed? Will my Injectors work with the current injector box?
Thanks,
Haggar

safc should be fine.....
the obd1 with hondata would be nice for heavly modded engines all motor. it involves more then jus the harness and ecu there is the distributor and fuel injectors also. hope this helps

For a nice compression of 11:1....just spend the extra few hundred and get the hondata system. It is just nice to know that you didnt go the cheap route on your life insurance policy.

Yeah, you do not have to run the OBD1 injectors. All you need is harness, 4 wire O2, distributor and ecu.
