About to buy a EF need help........
I am about to buy a 89 civic si the motor is a D16A6. Is that the stock motor?
I know they are in the 88-91 CRX. Found that out cause I did do a search. I ran the carfax and it said it was a 1.5. Confused......... Any info will be helpful........

Yes stock Si engine was D16A6 for both Civic Si and CRX Si.
And Carfax is often wrong. Carfax says my car is an LX, I have a Hatch and there was never an LX hatch, so it is 100% wrong.

I, too, ran a CarFax on my car and it said 1.5L. I was like WTF. But oh well, as long as the engine is the D16A6, you're good to go.

good in away. just thought it had a newer engine in it.
think its worth $3000. 136,000 miles on it. needs clutch, cv boots, tires, seats are jacked up. needs new carpet, right fender. Has clean title but it failed emissons once at 70,000 miles.
The ghetto dealer said he will replace the clutch and the cv boots if I buy the parts.
So the grand total is max $3500.
Thanks for the help.

whoa.... $3500?? hmmm... tell him 3 flat... the **** is his problem...
Easiest way to make sure that it's really an Si is if it has a sunroof.... no sunroof=no Si.
When so much stuff starts to go wrong at once on an EF, that means it wasn't taken care of... be wary of it... good luck!

Got my 1990 Civic Si for $1,575 bucks, not a damn thing wrong just some hail dents. Don't spend 3500 on it, you could easily have a Civic/CRX with a b16 for that much. (1.6L, DOHC VTEC, 160hp/113tq)
I don't know what prices are like by you but, I just got my 91 teg LS
for almost 1/2 that. 150k miles, loaded, A to A- condition.
Wait for a better deal.

I've bought 2 EF's in the last 4 months:
#1 1991 STD Hatch. Excellent shape, a few light rust spots, 1 owner who maintained it well, 191,000 miles --> $1000 (still gets 35-43 mpg!!)
#2 1990 CRX Si, had a B18A, S1, Place Racing mounts, shift linkange, and conversion harness, new aluminum full size radiator, etc. $1500
The CRX body is pretty bad, though, more rust than is worth fixing in Michigan. So, its donating the engine, trans, mounts, radiator, seats, gauge cluster, F/R disc brakes, hubs, resistor box, and some tires to the hatch.
I'll be stripping all the good stuff off it, and selling the shell and/or good pieces(hatch, taillights, doors, etc)
Theres a 1993 DX Hatch 160k miles, front clip is all dented up, but its got A/C for $800 by my house now, I'm hoping to sell my Jeep and buy that if its still there!
