Default Symptoms of cracked piston ring?

my compression is low in one of the cylinders....wondering if its a cracked piston ring or a sticking valve.....my motor runs strong and no problems have occurred....anyone know what the car would be doing if one of the rings were cracked?

How low is the compression?

If the car is running strong, it can't be that bad? Are you consuming oil?

He doesn't mean cracked, he means going bad.
his numbers are like 210-210-150-220 (or something very close)
I know that more than 15 psi difference isn't good. Also, his car smokes slightly. My suggestion is just get new rings (and ITR pistons, haha). Any others?

His car has been running slower than it used to (still fast though) at the track. -C

yeah i didn't think a cracked ring was common either thats why i was wondering if it might be something else like the valves

Oh and TypeC, you know if i got new pistons i'd go with ITR and not gsr

yeah, cracked rings aren't common, worn rings are. I'm thinkin burnt valve may be the case, I'll try checking the valve clearances for over tight valves. -C

He needs to update whether it was a "going bad" piston ring. :D
