My friend has a 99 prelude 5 speed and his 1, 2nd, and 3rd gear wont go in, also reverse. It was driving fine then we stopped off @ a Mc'Ds and when we started it back up the gears would not engage. what could be the prblm?

 

Did this happen all of a sudden or has it been an ongoing problem?

If its ongoing, it is most likely the synchro's going to hell.

It it happened all of a sudden, check the shift linkages that go to the tranny and look for anything not normal.

Also, Does he run a short shifter by any chance? If so, I would inspect the installation of it to make sure anything didnt become loose.

 

Will it shift when the car is off?

 

Try checking your brake fluid too, if thats low sometimes, it wont go in either.

 

the brake fluid in the clutch resivior that is, is there still pressure in his clutch?

 

figured it out... it was bad clutch fluid. thanks for the feedback.
