Default 185-60-14 Pirelli P7000 Questions/Comments

they are available on tirerack for 45 a piece...and have treadware of 160.

i'm looking for a comparable tire to the avs intermediate with similar treadware and light sidewall. for the street, i'm just interested in this type of tire and i was wondering if anyone had used them before, had good/bad experiences with them.

thanks, chet

here is a picture:

here is a description: The P7000 is a clear expression of all the sophisticated know-how acquired by Pirelli over years of research, experimentation and testing carried out in close collaboration with top high performance car manufacturers throughout the world.

The P7000 is the natural successor to the legendary "7" series: a family of thoroughbreds that first saw the light of day in 1975 with the introduction of the P7, followed by the P700Z, a benchmark for performance tire design everywhere.

The materials and manufacturing processes used in the production of the P7000 make it an advanced synthesis of Pirelli technology in the high performance tire market.

Drivers say that the P7000 "hangs on". It is a predictable tire whose tenacious grip transmits a strong sense of safety and dependable handling. Basically, the P7000 has three secrets, lightness, the PULSE patent and a unique dual effect directional tread pattern. By means of these important technological innovations the P7000 has further enhanced the contents of the Pirelli Active Safety System (PASS), which came in being with the P6000.

Lightness - The P7000 is designed, through the use of high tech materials, to reduce the unsprung masses and this helps to provide a more sensitive and precise drive.

Dual effect directional tread pattern - The P7000 has a first series of grooves set at a markedly radial angle. A second series of inclined circumferential grooves, the so-called sabre-cuts, is superimposed over the first series at a transverse angle. The radial grooves reduce aquaplaning at medium to low speeds when the road surface is covered by a relatively deep layer of water. The circumferential grooves, along with the two parallel central channels, guarantee safety and precision in the wet, even at high speeds.

The PULSE effect - On fast wide sweeping bends and on twisty roads the P7000 handles almost like a racing slick. Patented PULSE technology (Patented Uniform Lateral Stability Element) technology has resulted in the elimination of the continuous longitudinal shoulder grooves (replaced by the transverse sabre-cuts) thus stabilizing the lateral movement of the blocks. When these are under pressure the belting below the contact patch is kept perfectly rigid and stable even under the most severe conditions.

thanks guys
