Default definition of VTEC

Does anybody know what exactly VTEC stands for and what it means, in terms of power? what's the difference between vtec/non-vtec? sounds like a stupid ?, but i'm really interested in showing up this guy who doesn't know what he's talking about. thanks!

variable valve timing and electronic lift control iirc, it works by injecting special hormones into the fuel system which cause your car's power output to increase 3 fold.

http://leecao.com/honda/index.html has a better write u p on vtec than howstuffworks in my opinion
