Default Why you shouldn't celebrate your win too early...

Maybe you've already heard this story as it dates back to Monaco, but I only read about it today...

F3000 race earlier this year at monaco:

http://www.kiesa.com/news_view.cfm?Key=71&ttl=news

... five laps from the end, Nicolas was elevated to second behind Wirdheim.

On the straight of the last lap Nicolas noticed that Wirdheim was congratulating his team on the pitlane and had not yet crossed the finishing line so he made a dart to the chequered flag and just pipped Wirdheim for first position!.

"When I came around the last corner I went over to congratulate the team but then I realised that Wirdheim hadn't passed the flag yet so I nailed it to the line. I didn't know if I had won or not until I could see the team on the big screen going mad and I saw some Danish fans going wild in the grandstand on the slowdown lap."
