I was reading this magazine called " Option Fans", its basically the chinese version of the options magazine. Some of you might already know this but i blew my second distro for some odd reason and i really don't want to invest into another stock unit.
While i was reading the Option magazine, i saw a page that was talking about a 98 spec R that was making 252ps ( aprox. 249 bhp ) to the wheels built with a JUN 3 head that was stroked to 2.0 with JUN 12.5:1 pistons. The dc2 flexed a lot of Mugen Goodies, Spoon stuff with the JUN parts but the thing that caught me first was that the spark plug wires didn't go to the distro. I can't read Chinese but i was able to read the " ULTRA Multiple Discharge Ignition ". It was a unit made especially for the Honda Type R's. It came with 2 seperate coils for the distributor, 2 plugs for 2 wires and 2 control boxes. One of them just said " ULTRA M.D.I" and the other one said " ULTRA Firing System Determination Unit - Honda Type R " . I've done some searching online and i wasn't really able to find much. One of my friends recommended the Electromotive Ignition system. I don't wanna say anything about american parts but i'd rather stick with Japanese parts ( cause im a JDM ***** like that ). Im trying to find out if anyone can get this and about how much it will cost. If its a sensible solution and upgrade to my ignition system, im in the market for a new Distro, why not a better one? Here's all i can really find.

Anyone got any reviews of the system. I wonder how you adjust everything.
Looks like a very nice unit and i think that would compliment my car very well. That plus i need a new distro so at the first chance i got, im jumpin. I had a few of my friends help me look for it in HK. I just want to get my car running before summer ends.

Hm.. I thought that it was a better ignition system in general, i didn't know you still needed a distro. I have the distro but its not firing, im guessing its the ignitor.

Yeah he used that in his civic hb before. And so does some other local ITR owners? I've forgot who but definitely saw threads abt this sys here before. Try to search on Archived topic may help.

That's a very expensive unit. Cost about $800 last time I saw it (Dec 01). But maybe prices have come down a bit now.
A lot of race rules in the US restrict this kind of ignition system so we don't see it too often here. However, a lot of race cars oversea are using it. It provides more precision and consistency over the traditional unit.
But --- you don't really need it....
