4G shifter into a 1G CRX?

4G shifter into a 1G CRX?
I just have another short shifter laying around, and was wondering if it would fit in my 84 1.5L CRX. I guess I could get off my lazy butt and try it, but I'm seeing if it will work first. Thanks.
