Looks like I'm getting a d16y8 head..
Like the topic says, I think I'm finally getting head..err..a head..
I was wondering, before switching my a6 head to the y8 head...What upgrades to the y8 head should I do with it off the car to instead of after it's on, to make it easier. I'm getting a new cam gear which isn't out of my price range...camshaft? What do you think I should get?
Are there any other things I should upgrade while I'd have the head off of my a6? I'd rather do as much as possible at once to make it easiest.
And any tips on not only what parts to get but specific brands etc. I'm on a budget so nothing too big, lol, not gunna do a big turbo setup, just need some relativly cheaper things, basically $0-500 ish. my budget _might_ stretch to $1000 for this project.

how many miles does the head have on it? If it's over 70k you might want to get some new springs. Cam would work but it could wate. Look into some springs and Ferrea Stainless Steel valves and new valve bronze guides. If you go stainless then do yourself a favor and get new guides cause the old ones will get chewed up fast. I think skunk makes a cam for that head that would be good, and valve springs/retainers too.
