Default D-series turbo & A/C possible?

Im looking at piecing together a little turbo kit for my 97 coupe.....my fat hoe needs a little boost! Ive noticed that when using the HF/cx manifold that A/C isnt possible....how about with kits? Do the Drag/Greddy/Apex'i kits allow for the use of A/C? I want to keep the budget semi-low (not dropping 2 g's for a kit), but I want A/C!!

So am I correct when I assume that A/C cant be used with the HF manifold, no matter how you hook up an adapter plate?

Yep, same as the A'PEXi kit and Edelbrock kit, I believe. Don't know about the HF manifold setup, though.

a/c can be retained with an HF manifold as long as you clock the turbo correctly to work without having to have the compressor outlet facing the a/c compressor. The interesting part is just going to be the exhaust outlet downpipe. You'll either have to be creative with it or make one with a "little" reduced flow so that it'll clear.

Hell, if you look at the outlet on the greddy kits for civics and how cramped IT is, a tight little turn in a fabbed outlet won't matter much.

Also, it'll of course be a LOT easier to retain a/c if you use a smaller turbo than a larger one.

case in point here:

the small one on the left is a mitsu te04h that I have clocked 180 degrees out and you can see it right next to a t3 from a volvo. I think you can tell by the size difference which one will leave more room to play with making a downpipe...

and well, the te04h is efficient to 18psi which is more than the everyday d-series will EVER handle...and will spool faster than that t3 EVER will so it's actually the better turbo for the car anyway.

T3/T04B:

There's a lot more room to work with the AC though:

i used std/hf manifold...still have ac...and have my turbo compressor on the same side as my ac compressor. you just have to be very creative. i did it this way so my dp is not restricted at all and doesn't put the hot side next to the ac. i didn't want to fry my ac. my ac actually is colder now with the way i reconfigured my setup. check out my webpage for pics:

APex kit retains the ac.. It fits as if the car came from the dealership with Turbo. No installations issues. The car is a 98EX Coupe.
