Default OT: Ford Mondeo and Mitsubishi FTO?

What is the deal with these cars?

Is the Mondeo a rebadged version of something they sell in the US, or is it build strictly for export?

And is the FTO related to the Eclipse, or is it a completely different car, just not available in the US?

Just curious...

Ford Mondeo is Euro verison of the contour
Mondeo 2.0 Ghia: 143bhp/140tq
Mondeo ST24: 167bhp/162tq
Mondeo ST200: 202bhp/173tq

Mit. FTO is not related to the DSM. It's hase Mivec and 6 pot engine and is rwd. There is even special edition Type R version with HID, special interior and exterior, couple more HP, wheels and tyres package and stiffer susp. setup.

FTO: 197bhp/147tq
I don't remember the R' specs. But there over 200bhp I know that for sure.
