check this shit out all motor car try's to run pro front wheel drive
the problem i have with this is that i cant understand why someone has the ***** too go out and try and qualifie in pro front and after that, was moved down to all motor and found out that his intake stuck out of the hood about 6 inches or more and made it pass tech and 2 passes before the officials noticed this and did not
disqualifie the runs and last but not least to go out and run his first run of eliminations 300 pounds under wieght, not a specific figure but anways any good sportsman would have dq himself to let someone else take a real chance at the next round. I think its chickenshit and disrespects our sport, our cander, and ***** the ladder! so Norm Will it happen again? If you wanna run with the big boy's run heavy like the rest of us. Oh yeah 306 horsepower should be faster than 10.7 at 1400 to 1500 pnds. Yea im talkin ish but then what you did was ****!
last year there was some who came out the world final at nhra in pomona and was a man about our sport and i would like to thank bisi for being a man a pulling himself from the show because he was under wieght and didnt want to effect the ladder! good man, honest people R.s. has been around alot longer than me and im not on there nuts just well respected.
norm on the other hand is all over erick's nuts and relies on erick's power to pull his glide so please help our sport not hurt it!
just my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a pro racer
congrats to scott mohler on the front wheel drive am victory and to leslie for the 50 you go girl also steph your my honda hero!

first I respect your thoughts about this.... Secondly I happen to know that there is more to story than maybe you know.... As a racer my self I know that it is very hard to build a track car 6months to a year ...what ever it takes you to finish...Then only to have the rules changes right before your eyes....I believe that we should follow the same type of rules that big block pro stock does maybe so that the sport could move forward insted of being spread from d series to k series /mazda/vw/rwheel/fwheel...There is no one one this site that can tell me that rwd/fwd are equal....Back to Norm ...from the time that he got to the track they were complaining about the car ... and every thing that they complained about he fixed... then they would complain about something else ...(this is like I said what happeneds when the rules change mid season).. {in pro front and after that, was moved down to all motor }Norm is a All Motor Racer!!!! He has been racing all motor since day one ask around ....Secondly How many people do you know that have not got any help with building a set up...Bisi has got just as much help as the next man (wat uppper's Bisi ) . Erick just happens to race as well as build motors... The reason that he ran under weight was that by then he was pissed off , yea im sure there were other ways he could have handled it and maybe now he thinks that too , but when your 600 miles from home and your gettn dicked sometimes we dont think clearly.... like i said I respect your thoughts , and totally understand were you are coming from ... Im curious to know what others think about the current rules that we have ...thanks a Pro Racer
What he did was wrong but at least Norm pull himself out. So,that bumped up my homie to make another pass. You know who's a dick was the guy at the weighing station. On the side note I knew Norm when he was running carbed sohc in the street car..he's always has good sportmanship
Gotta agree with you man. I don't know exactly what went down in eliminations, but I gather Norm was pretty pissed by then because it sounds like he got the major run around.
For those familiar with what's going on, Norm has done everything on that car short of the engine. He built the dash from scratch himself, has probably reworked everything at one time or another, installs his own stuff, etc. Yeah he runs an ERE engine, but who wouldn't!? If you're not a motor builder, you buy the best motor you can. He did port his own intake manifold on the last motor though - not bad for a guy who's got a family and a full time job - not in the auto industry. I'm sure there are folks who do more, but its tough to throw stones.
As far as running light in the eliminations, hey, he still qualified on a legal setup, so what's the biggy? They were checking weight after every qualifying run, weren't they?

hey no brakes put the brakes on norms a cool guy ive known norm since high school . if anybody should be getting stones tossed at them it should be them whack *** tech guys they were ****** with him ever since he got to the track. they tell him one thing and he fixes it then they tell him to change something else. by the way no brakes what do you race a vw.
Just ran into Norman this afternoon. He qualified legally. He then ran light (1650 lbs) in the first round of eliminations. When he finished (after winning the round) he specifically told his competitor to make sure he hit the scales because Norman was not going to weigh his car or do the next round (not weighing in would DQ you anyways).
That sounds like pretty good sportsmanship to me. If his competitor in that round hadn't weighed in afterward (he hadn't planned to from what I could gather), he might not have been able to run the next round.
So, I don't see the issue here. Norm tried to do everything the tech guys were telling him (according to Norm). At one point they told him he could run in a different class, and then told him he couldn't because he didn't have a neck brace. He then added weight in qualifying for all-motor (as well as removing his intake, etc.) and made the field.
Am I missing something?

I agree that the rule changes are a bit overwhelming, especially since it happens so often. Just a heads up, in speaking with NHRA coordinators, there will eventually be a split AM class for rwd and fwd, but they have to know that there will be enough turn out for both classes. But back to the rule changes, I don't completely understand what Norman's issues were, because as far as the weight and intake rules, those have been in effect all season long, so where is the confusion?

since u guys are hashing out the rules i got a ? for ya. are door panels required??? cause at my local NHRA sanctioned track they want me to get door panels on my fiberglass doors for safety. i think its rediculous but they want me to do it. i doubt i will though.
I have little idea about what exactly the issues were and where the disconnect was on Norman's part. However, he did say that every time he went back to tech after fixing an identified problem, they hit him with something else. Now, its not the tech inspector's job to tell you how to fix your car, but I think Norman felt they just kept finding new things to hassle him with. In the end, that's between Norman and the tech people.
However, in relation to the first post in this thread - Norman didn't do anything wrong or unsportsmanlike. He pulled off his intake, added extra weight and qualified legal. Running light in eliminations isn't a good way to go rounds
, but he was making a statement - whether we agree with that or not is a moot point in terms of fairness to other competitors. He probably still would have won the round heavy as his competitor didn't have a good pass (if memory serves), but he was making a point. And he did the right thing by making sure his competitor could continue on when Norman knew that he wasn't going to go to the next round.
Sounds pretty cut and dried to me.

personally we dont have a problem with norman he's alway's been cool when we meet and yes i do agree the rules do change regularly. NhRA has been tough on
that type of stuff but also not so good at picking it up the frirst time around.
The reason we were upset was it affected the ladder and everyone who ran was teched and ran legally??????????????? that a big ??? anyways many of us have been asked to modifie the intake tube one time or another and other stuff that came up. It's just the sportsman side of it, if he had something to prove he should have withdrawn from comp. and passed the chance to let some one who really wanted to win. I agree with you guy's though he was probably fed up and i did'nt mean to be so harsh sorry norm, but alot of people that qualified after norm. sure would have have had a different outlook in that race if they had moved up, even just one spot. Norm if you here this i will make a personall apologie next time i see you and keep ripping the numbers actually 10.7 at vegas is a good number!
i'm jealous.

Remember racers bring the crowd's we do have strength in numbers. nhra needs to listen to the racer's before they make the decisions to change our sport without the proper education in sport compact racing. oh yeah i forgot most of them came from cars with to many cylinders.
