How to check trans. fluid on 98 accord ex v6. 2 different ways?
I read the owners manual. "Check with engine at normal operating temp. with engine off"
I got a newletter from DAP Discovery Automotive Parts (Honda parts supplier, etc) they state to check it with the engine cold. They say you will overfill it the other way.
I would go with the manuals instruction. What do you guys say? Whats the harm in over filling the tranny?

Hondas are wierd. Most other makes of auto transmissions you're supposed to warm it up, shift thru the gears while holding the brake, then let it idle in 'park' while you check the oil.
I'd rather believe the owner's manual for YOUR car.
After all that, I'm also kinda curious about overfilling. When we inherited our '98 Accord, it had always been serviced at a dealer. My wife's aunt probably didn't know how to open the hood. It was overfilled, and so far nothing bad has happened.
