something simple to do that won't mess up anything is to set the vtec engagment at 4700rpm and lower the fuel between 1% and 5% across the board....lean makes power but too lean kills engines....
it runs rich from the factory and leans out around the 5k mark...so i'd leave that alone and lower it at 5% to start out and then step it down to 1% at 4500rpm or something then lean it back down to 2% the rest of the way from 5300rpm to redline....this won't hurt and will help a little bit, but dynoing the thing will be the only way to get optimal results

At my last dyno session all the Hondas that dyno'd (a Lude, a Teg, an Accord & a S2000) started out leaner pre-VTEC and then got steadily richer all the way through redline; what you're suggesting is the exact opposite of everything that I've ever seen/heard.
There are no universal V-AFC settings for everyone, even if you have i/h/e and someone else does too, even on stock Ludes. Get the car wideband dyno'd and have someone who knows WTF they're doing show you how to do it yourself, because although it isn't THAT complicated, but if you don't know what you're doing, it can be very confusing.

When my mechanic installed my VAFC he install a sensor beside my existing O2 sensor. Then using a laptop he tuned the air/fuel. I took it to a dyno later and the wideband sensor on the dyno confirmed that I had perfect air/fuel.
It only cost me $75 for the laptop tuning.
