All the 1gs are harder to open than those plastic ones anway, but after I crushed mine, I couldn't tell a physical difference.

when i used a crushed dsm valve on my car, it wouldnt open. (im running real low boost right now), but when i switched to an uncrushed one, it worked wonderful. you can tell if its crushed by the top of the valve. you put it in the vise, the mounting flange on one jaw and the green (i think, im color blind) in the other jaw, then sqeeze the poo out of it. ill tell javier to bring his camera to shop tonight and ill take a pica for ya. unless someone elst has some photos?

jon... you got a little bit carried away with the crushing. The crush only needs to be a little bit, i think you tried to close the vice completely...

those bosch plastic "diverter valves" are a POS. they begin to leak after 9psi IIRC......at least they did on the supercharged NSX's

To do it right you really need to do it in a hydraulic press so it goes slow and use a vacuum pump to check where it opens.

How can you TELL by looking, if it's crushed?

How much are these DSM ones' suppose to open at anyways? like what apps, 8psi 12psi?

if its been REALLY crushed then the gren top part which is a smaller cylinder than the body of the BOV is sunk in slightly.

i most people dont need to crush these BOVs for under 10psi. the DSM guys started crushing them so they wouldnt leak at high boost.

looking at the base of the vac nipple there is a larger circumference part of the BOV on the left (see pic) if that base of the nipple is closer than this pic, or touching it, then it is crushed.

let me say it slower.

Lol

Only the green top part (with the vacuum nipple on it) will crush down some.

It will have a dent in the top where the red circle is

not just a dent, but that whole area circled will sit lower in the BOV. the vacuum nipple will actually be closer to the bottom of the BOV almost to the point where its hard to slide a vacuum line on it fully. the spring is around the circumference of the red circle there. so denting the middle wouldnt do anything. the whole thing goes down when you crush it.

dont do anything unless you find out BOV is leaking boost.

He just asked how he can tell I know there is more to it then just a dent I was just giving him the idea of what it would look like. I have found about 20 web sites on how to do it if I was going to do this mod I would read up on it first.

and i corrected you cause it doesnt look anything like a dent when "crushed" correctly.
