Proper Torque for 16" 5 Lug Alloys
Trying to find out the proper lug nut torque for the 16" 5 spoke alloys on my wife's Honda Accord Coupe...I've heard anything between 90-95 ft/lbs...Is this correct? Thanks...
that's a good general torque number for most, if not all passenger vehicles, excluding heavy duty trucks and the like
that is plenty tight enough to keep the wheels on and not tight enough to cause the rotors to warp or hurt anything, so that's what i'd torque them to.....

Kinda scarey that for what should be a straightforward answer, you get so many different ones. Torque for alloy wheels is going to be less than for steel wheels. The service manual (I don't have one) should give you these torque settings, or you can call the dealer and ask. Don't overtorque your alloys. 80 sounds a lot more like it than 90-95, but check to be sure.
all honda/acuras are 80.
not only does it say it in the manual, but when i bought the blue torque stick for the air gun that was one of the applications listed.

Thanks for all the responses...I haven't checked the torque for a while on my wife's car since it's never on the track or sees autocrosses...but I guess I should check more often...this recently came up when I was removing one of her wheels to check the inside lip for leaks due to inclusions/blisters of air created during the casting process...one wheel has been always losing air since my wife bought the car new in '99. After several trips to the dealer and NTB over the years, we finally found the problem and Honda was generous enough to replace the wheel for free even though the warranty had expired.
