Leave homemade log manifold raw or engine paint black
Has anyone painted a homemade manifold with high temp engine paint. I'm just wondering how it holds up. My manifold came out beautifully, I'd almost consider leaving it raw so peope wouldn't mistake it for a purchased manifold. I definitlly dont want to paint it if it's going to just flake off and make it look crappy.
You need to use exhuast manifold paint. Engine paint is going to peel off. Something rated for 1400-1800 degrees should work. Typically these paints need to be heat cured.
Or HPC or similar coatings are good, but they probably cost as much as your manifold did.

Looks like it's going to be left raw, I guess if it rusts up I can always weld some nuts on to it and make up a painted heat shield.
