Suggestions for FI?
I have an 00 Si, and have approx $4,000 to go force induction. I have done searches and favoring the Max Rev Kit W/ Hondata + the OBD2-to-1 harness. I am looking for about 250hp with the possibility to go up too 350hp(eventually) of reliable power. I do have a beater, but don't want a lot of down time if preventable. Please don't say search, I have been on this board a while, and just don't post much, I just prefer to read and gather knowledge. I am looking for possible other suggestions, and people's opinions. Another option I was pursuing was the procharger kit (www.procharger.com) but can't find enough info on it, or it's upgrade ability.
Please help me with suggestions,
Thanxs
Gene
no-one is willing to offer suggestion's on how they would turbo/supercharge a b16a reliably for 4,000?
Please help, I got a few ideas in mind, but I also know there are a lot of member's on this board w/ more knowledge than myself.

please dont get a centrifugal supercharger. they just dont work well with high revving motors like yours. if you do insist on a supercharger with really good drivability, get a jackson racing unit since it has the advantage of instant torque.
IMO, you should get a turbo. piece together your own kit with parts here in the classifieds for a cheap price.

Thank you for the reply,
I am leaning towards turbo. I do like the Pro-Charger kit but, just can't get enough info on it. The Jackson gets heat soaked, and the Vortech seems to slip belts often, and just to "clumsy" for what it is, plus to make big power no PS, and I think no AC.
Used parts are a good deal as well, but I am more of beginer with "read knowledge" so I think I'd prefer a kit, or at least a kit I can use a Hondata or AEM EMS kit on....I personally don't want to use the "hack"

The turbo setup you proposed sounds good, you will also need larger injectors(<$300), a 255lph Walbro fuel pump($100), and a fuel pressure regulator(B&M is <$50)... Good choices on engine management, I run the AEM. You will have to have the MaxRev piping cut and welded by a shop if you do not have the tools to do it yourself, just a heads up, its not a bolt on kit but it is a bad *** value which is why I got it. I would go turbo over a supercharger, more power potential

mskibbz-T,
Thanxs for the reply. When you say the MaxRev isn't a bolt-on do me the pipes don't line up(cause they need to be cut) or doesn't come w/ fuel management? or both? or is it something else? I do understand I need to find proper fuel delivery, and cut the pipes, and put a hole in the oil pan, but is there something else I'm missing? And how do you feel about the manifold itself, does it need to be braced better, and how does it hold up against cracking.
I think this is the best entry level kit, w/out killing the bank, but I just want to be positive, to me it's a lot of cash, but I rather do it once correctly.
any suggestions on where to buy the kit from a reputable shop?
Thanxs again,
Gene

1. The MaxRev manifold is awesome for the price! I have never heard of anyone cracking their MaxRev manifold.
2. You will get an assortment of piping, and you cut it down and weld it together in order to make your custom IC piping, shops usually will do it for a couple hundred and a few hours. You would also need to get the oil return welded to the oil pan. These aren't negatives, you get a lot of freedom with the custom aspects of it, just something to be aware of before buying it.
3. I bought mine online at http://www.ks-motorsports.com
Sounds like you know what you are getting into, have fun!

Thanxs for the reply,
I've been researching for a while. I know someone on the website sells the oil ine so thats no biggie, and the cutting of pipes, I got to find a shop, but was aware of that. I think there are enough parts in the kit to get me where I need to be. Do you know if I run Hondata, all I need is injector's, Fuel Pump, Fpr, do I need missing link or GM Map sensor...this is the stuff that I'm trying now to gain knowledge on now.
KS is where I was planning on getting it, it's nice to know you liked their service, peace of mind.
Can I ask whats your setup? What motor, is it stock, how much boost your running, and any problems you may have had? I'm sorry I'm asking so many questions, I know I'll run into problems or inconviences, but I'm trying to narrow them down, and keep an eye on cost.

Is that true, that you need a FPR with hondata or EMS? I always heard its not neede?
Can anyone verify this?

It is not necessary unless you want to run higher or lower fuel pressure. Thats why most basemaps come with "stock" fuel pressure.

You actually get nice oil lines with the MaxRev kit, so don't worry about that. You might want to upgrade to a braided stainless steel return line, but other than that the oil lines that are included are superb. You do not need a missing link or GM 3BAR map sensor(unless you are going to boost over 11 PSI). I am running the MaxRev kit, AEM EMS, B&M FPR, 680cc injectors, Walbro 255lph in tank fuel pump, GM 3BAR map sensor, Thermal 3" catback, test pipe, FJO WBO2, Greddy gauges, Blitz DD BOV, MSD cap, coil, and Digital 6+, and lots more goodies.. You really don't need all that stuff I have though to start. I am boosting 7 PSI right now and have not had a single problem in over 6 months of boosting. I will soon be boosting 10-12 PSI on my stock B18B.

Nice set-up, and thanks for the info.
I am going to start with the basics first, and boost somewhere between 8-10, on a stand alone (either Hondata or AEMS EMS) OBD2 switch over is a little costly on the Hondata, hence the second thoughts. I was going to do the piston/rods but I'm using the $$ for Enigine management and tuning. If I boost more, then I'll upgrade them.
Thanxs for all your advice.
Max-rev and revhard are both great beginner kits. Dont be scared of the custom piping issue with max-rev u can cut them your self and you might have a shop weld in 2-3 places($30-50). Also from what ive heard and seen the maxrev bov sucks, everyone upgrades.
I understand about you just wanting to get a kit complete since it's your first time. My first kit was a revhard2c on my last gsr and i loved it, I now have an ls and am almost done piecing together my kit.
