Timing help???

Default Timing help???

I think my timing belt may be off a tooth. My distributor is turned all the way to stop to get the timing mark to just line up. The car also gets some detonation under moderate to heavy acceleration. I know me and my friend tripple checked everything when we put the belt on. However, it never really seemed definative which was the right tooth. I'm using a Gates belt. Is that ok? I've always known Gates to be quality stuff.

Did you make sure that the two lines on the camgear lined up with the block properly? I'm pretty sure it's a tooth off.

I did my best.. but to be honest.. no way really looked dead on. I triedit on two diffrent teeth before I settled on teh one it is on now.

I would go to http://www.gates.com/part_locator/index.cfm and make sure
the belt kit is the right one. It is very common to be sold the wrong parts..
