Any Others (headers ?) do you plan on upgrading cams - JDM ITR header (4-1) you can get for around 450.00 (i think) try http://www.jdmhondaparts.com and maybe http://www.ahmotor.com or possibly DC JDM 4-1, all of these will require a custom cat cause the collector is 2.5 inches instead of 2.25, THESE HEADERS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR N/A applications, if you're going turbo or s/c down the road don't waste your money
Look just get the New JG/Edelbrock header I've seen this header make 7hp more on a type R than the JDM 4-into 1. And its beautifull!
http://www.jdmhondaparts.com/jgedelbrock.htm
its called the Pro-Flo The Type R guys don't know much about this header but trust me when I say they will all be switching soon!

How much does the DC sports version cost?
It matters what your plans are for the car so decide what your goal is and then come back to ask about the best header for your car.

Well OEM stuff is generally very reliable, and the JDM 4-1 perf has been pretty well proven.
I know of a few people (Boba) with the DC JDM, and they all have good subjective reviews. I haven't seen any dyno plots or the like to support it though. For the price, I really hope it works
I may go that route if I can't swing one of the custom/tuner pieces (Hytech, SMS).
On the age-old question of best header, it really depeneds.
As stated, it will depend on what route you take (FI or N/A), and even if you stay N/A, it will depend on your level of modification.
I have a Neuspeed 4-2-1 ceramic with a pitiful sized collector. This is a real restriction in my setup. If you are mildly modded, it's probably fine. Need to look at fitment, customization, durability, cost, etc.
If you are going to stay mild, any of the mainstream type headers should perform similarly (DC, Apexi, Comptech, etc). Just need to figure out ceramic vs SS and whether to coat it.
If you are going all out all motor, you prob want something with a 2.5 inch collector, like SMS, Hytech, Toda, Spoon, JDM DC, etc. Prices range a lot to say the least...
Thoughts?

I still don't understand why people would ever buy the OEM Honda JDM 4-1 still...the DC Sports JDM is cheaper and much higher quality
I just want a quality header that won't crack. Isn't SS better than ceramic for durability? Is one-piece or two-piece better. This car will not be heavily modded. No cams, just good I/H/E. I have the stock cat on it now so I need a header w/ 2.25 collector, right? I am looking at Apex'i GT Spec right now. Good or no good?
Also, what is FI and NA?
Thanks.

IMO (in my opinion
):
SS - more durable but more expensive
2 piece - easier install
stock gsr cat 2.25, yes - anything (header) labeled "JDM" will require mods
A'PEXi is sweet, some like GReddy - let the battle begin...
JG - i'm waiting to hear from an actual person who actually has these who has an actual dyno plot
FI - Forced Induction
NA - naturally aspirated
don't feel bad, i didn't know what CTR was at first (civic type-r)

kendo just try to make up your mind before blowin your $$$$ on this header. Like later in future if you wish to go Force Induction then the header will be useless. Good luck. If your in a budget go with the DC Sport. Other than that go with what others told you.
One of my good friends has a 92 Si Hatch with USDM Type R motor with cam gears and a JG Header and full exhaust his car made 190 to the wheels. With no other modifications. You people don't understand that Edelbrock made a race header for JG that they use on there all motor cars up to 260/270 to the wheels. This is the same header just with a 2 1/4 collector but you can also get one with a 2 1/2 collector. As soon as I scan the Dyno Sheet I'll put it up. Please people don't waste your money. If you have seen this header you know its awsome
you do understand why some are skeptical of the ad with a dyno chart showing (i think it was) 12whp over the DC (i remember it being mostly or all top end gains), no? do you have any idea if that was with the racing b-pipe vs. the dc w/ cat&exhaust because the cynic in me was guessing this. believe me, we all want the killer header that blows everything else away and doesn't cost $1500. we want to believe, but it's hard. how did they find explosive gains like this that no one else was able to find?
I've seen that ad also. Never create your opinions based on an advertisement for a specific product. You want an unbiased opinion to make a valid judgement. We have no idea what kind of car that is or what other mods it has (different headers react differently to different setups. So be sure to differentiate the differential...
)
Also, word of mouth really isn't much better. I'm sure that there are plenty who actually have the JG header and can show you their personal dyno plot.
Example:
My friend made 230whp with just a DC Sports 4-2-1 header on a stock B18b.
Now, we can eliminate this based on the fact that I have no friends. See, it's so easy. Now you try.
Anyway, sorry about the humor (bad humor that is) but I like to keep things interesting. I would suggest these headers based on your level of modification (all NA setups assumed):
Apexi: I/H/E or less. I think the Comptech is nice but too damn expensive.
DC JDM/JDM ITR: cams, gears, IM, ECU and the like. Basically, pretty modified. I think I'm going to try the DC JDM ITR, but I'll wait a bit to see what kind or cracking/denting problems it will have in the future since it's new.
SMS/HiTech: I jumped straight from Toda and Spoon because these are pretty much the best you can buy. Mugen/Spoon/Toda/Jun all make very very nice (expensive) headers, but I would pay some more (not that much more) and go the custom route. Serious inquiries only...

Hey, I have a Greddy SS header on my 98 gsr. I ccould not be happier with it. I think it cost me 320. And is by far the best header (looks wise) i have seen. the welds are impeckable. I love it. Sounds great and my car seems to have a lot more power. for the money id say go Greddy, stay away from DC.
