Whenever i'm going down a hill or whatever and i let off the throttle the exhaust will back fire a lil and make popping noises. Or sometimes in between shifts it'll make a loud POP sound. Wtf!? How do i prevent this????

i actually like that about some exhaust/cars...

 

it's fine

and it's not backfiring

 

mine does it too, and sometimes people say they see flames

LMAO why would you want to prevent that? With exhaust comes the potential for backfiring!!! BACKFIRE IS GOOOOD! If you want to prevent it take off your exhaust...a car doesnt need a lot of power to backfire...ex...my sisters 99 ex, dc exhaust, headers (dc also) and some intake...it backfires. It did it better when she had her apex exhaust on but she took it off because it overwhelmed her stereo (she sucks lol) I liked it.

I have a backfire story (Also shows how little power backfire takes)

I was at nascar in the main hall behind the stands, this golfcart thing there backfired so loud it sounded like a gun (literally) you could hear people scream.

Now if that isn't power tell me what is

Also water can cause backfire...spray a little water in your exhaust MUHAHAH!

haha..My Trust catback exhaust does the exact same thing man..In between shifts it'll make a few popping noises and if i let off the throttle while in gear, it'll make sort of a gurgling noise. Don't worry about it. Theres not really much you can do to prevent it.

get a quiter exhaust.....

Every once in a while I get that sound with my Apexi N1. I don't really like it.

 

haha, it's not that bad.. but the same thing happened when i installed the racing medallion on the 2.5rs, it did the same thing except 10 times louder.

Off Topic kind of:When I had my Vento(Jetta) VR6 with Techtonics cat back exhaust it would make those popping sounds.I liked the sound My custom exhaust on my Teg doesnt make any popping sound

Oh my, so do I. I love the sound it makes from the outside in between gears when you are gettin on it.

YEAH!!!! I dont even mind losing to my friends GSR cuz in 3rd gear when he's passing me up, i getta hear him shift into 4th right at my window! it sounds GREAT!

 

It's normal, don't worry about it. Now, when you're on a road course and you're redline 2nd, bounce off the rev limiter because it's not worth it to go into third, then get off the throttle, the exhaust pops like crazy, then get back on going around the turn. It's freakin cool, especially when you're next to a wall

I noticed mine more when I installed my test pipe. People have said they have seen flames shoot out too.

 

all my cars in auto modelista backfire....

 

mine does it to. its loud as hell and flames come out!!! but sometimes it gets to be too much. oh well, live with it.

 

mine does the same thing except mine is annoying as crap. as long as yours dont sound nasty i wouldnt worry about it lol

 

my friend's type-r turbo backfires like crazy , he's running without an exhaust though
