i run a 1998 integra ls with a bill gude race head and spoon sports bolt ons. i ran a 14.1 with 17s and stock clutch. take a non vtec motor and put a big came in it and it s like having vtec from 2000 to 8000. in my car i arely have to shift past 7200 to make peak power. building an ls the correct way it is a good motor. it isn't a max horsepower motor. it is a torque monster. you will be happy. and you don;t have to rev the **** out of it to go anywhere.
I run a non vtec with all bolt-ons and crower 404's. and I can tell you its a quick motor. I have a hondata on the way to get the cams to play nice with everything else, but I see amazing potential. VTEC motors are not a problem for me, but they have a nicer idle.....

Soon though. Soon.
People don't seem to understand that a VTEC Motor gets it's power output not by VTEC alone, but a combination of good flow and parts that can tolerate higher revs much easier. It's in the overall design. Granted, an LS motor with enough money in it can be built to destroy any VTEC engine and vice versa.
And about the idle, all I have to say is that my cams are huge compared to those crowers and I'll have me as good of, if not better than, an idle as a VTEC equipped motor. VTEC is all hype. Ask Johnny Knoxville.

well i have a 94 dx with a c.a.i, header and 2 1/4" custom exaust with an obx b3 muffler and a stage 2 btm clutch, also a/c has been totally removed and i have a 99 lx intake manifold on the way that i purchased for 25$, comes with fuel rail and injectors ( dont know if it is gonna make a big difference or not ) but all that and i tell ya it runs pretty damn fast if you ask me. gonna dyno it one day. im actually trying to see what all i can get out of a d15b7 motor...

</TD></TR></TABLE>You would'nt say that if you ran my car. 91 CRX SI (STREET DRIVEN) ALLMOTOR NONVTEC LS 12.4@108 with a BLOWN head gastet. The whole motor set up cost less then a type-r swap and i have ITB's on it with stand alone.

our next CRX project will be a D16A6 nonvtec. Goal is a 12.2 I'd be happy if it hits that time.... daily driven.
fastest we've done on a nonvtec d16 is 12.89 on a full interior 89 H/B.
Hows that for NON-VTEC power.
OH YA.. these are all ALL MOTOR.
