Default B16B or Built B18C?

Looking at B16B or B18c w/ typeR internals for 6th gen. coupe. Gonna keep the car all-motor. The car is also gonna be a daily-driver.

B16B engine is really useless for anything but roadracing. It sucks and is pretty much worthless in drag racing, but it really shines in road racing. Very smooth power delivery.

Well the both good concidering the b16b is a destroked Typer R motor. You can get the b16b and get a b18c crank and rods and you got yourself a Type R motor. The b16b and b18c blocks are the same height.

Agreed. For all motor purposes, you will spend much more getting the B18C to the same level as a B16B with a 1.8 crank sutffed in it..

Read my post in your original thread in the civic forum.

b16 block is not the same height as gsr....from what i know....i put a b16 in a crx and it fit fine...then i took it out and put a gsr in it and the hood wont close right and the b16 dc header wouldnt fit cuz it was too short....so from my experience b18 is longer...correct me if im wrong ....but back to the topic..i would go with b18 cuz b16 are weak for drag racing

B16A and B16B are not the same thing. B16B is a destroked B18C so it has the same deck height of a B18C.

But back to the topic at hand, Do you mean your going to put Type R internals in both engines or the B18C? Either way you end up with the same thing.

He plans on building the B18 with R internals...so y bother with that motor when He can buy a B16B from the git-go...then add the 1.8 crank and rods later....easier and cheaper.

If you're going to build the the B18c to Type R specs then you just need to go ahead and buy the B16B b/c of the added extras. It's going to be cheaper to add a 1.8C crank and rods to the B16B. To make the GSR to ITR spec you need the head internals, pistons, Skunk2 intake manifold, and MOST OF ALL THAT LSD TRANNY. You can't beat the added extras if you're gonna use all the Honda OE parts to build up the GSR.

If you want a B18C with Type-R internals, why not just buy a B18C5? It will not cost much more than a B16B. And with the prices for GSR motors as outrageous as they are today, it will not even cost much more than a B18C1. So why not just buy the B18C5 and get all those Type-R parts right out of the box? You could not possibly buy AND build either the B16B or B18C1 for what you would pay for a B18C5.

hmmm...that sounds very interesting! if the B16B comes with the CTR tranny then i think i would have to vote CTR! ..then upgrade to a 89mm crank later with +.137" rods and raised-pin pistons! ..or you can use the sissy 87.2mm crank...
hah jk
