Default pulley torquing

I have 95 accord v6. Can you use the method of stepping on the brake to hold the crank pulley still while torquing it on an automatic car? Also, why does the pedal gets harder to press with every press?

Won't work. No matter how hard you press on the brake, with an automatic transmission the engine can still spin.

Your brake pedal gets harder because each time you press it you're 'using up' some of the vacuum that's stored in the brake booster.

is it ok if I use the brake method when torquing ON the bolt? Taking it off, i'm gonna use 600 lbs elctric impact so i'm ok with that.
