Default F23 into 96 Accord question.

I got the motor and tranny (automatic) and just wondering what else I need and from what car.

My car is a Lx, non-vtec so I know I need a ECU but what else?

Thanks
J.T

p.s. I did a search but everything came up with about 700+ matches.

Umm why would I need MORE power? The Accord is my daily driver, I also have a 03 S2000 and just bought a 600RR (motorcycle)

I just asked a simple question I thought. Oh well, If you need more of an explanation, the original engine is leaking oil everywhere..... on the outside and all over the sparkplugs.....even after changing the gromets. I got a F23 out of a 99 Accord EX that had been rear ended with 33k miles on it. Oh yeah, and I only paid $300 for the motor and tranny (automatic)

SO back to my question, what all do I need for the swap. Is it going to be a bisic bolt in beside witing it up for VTEC?

Thanks
JT

you'll need the ECU from a OBD2 VTEC accord. watch out for the ones with the immobilzer. you'll have to pull some wires for VTEC as well.

where did you get that motor for 3 bills???????

If you decide not to do the swap, sell me the head

I'm not aware of any problems with using the 5th gen ECU as long as it's the 96 97 OBD2 ECU.

Oh yeah, get a f23a1 not the f23a4 ulev motor. the motors are the same but the sensor package is different and probably isn't compatable with the 5th gen ECU

The ECU's will be different. The 96-97 accord uses OBD-IIa and the 98+ uses OBD-IIb. Some of the sensors are different. IAC being a big one. Tranny mount will be different too. Rear should be the same, front not sure about. Drivers side I believe is different too. You may want to double check me on some of the mounts. But the harness and sensors I know are different.

you will also need a cat with the o2 sensor in the middle because of it's OBDII setup. If you don't want to go through all that, u probably will have to get a o2 simulator and wire it up to avoid any codes.

if you still have your original motor, i would use the wiring harness on it for the f23...this should solve some of your problems...plug everything you can in, and whatever doesn't plug in, use that sensor from your f22...and, if when you fire it up, you get any cel's, just check the code, and replace that sensor with the one from your original f22...this is the way i'd do it personally...

i'm doing this to my 93 accord as soon as my motor blow.
I have a 93 accord auto non-vtec and this is my daily driven family car. I just want something with slighly more torque and not to mention those tranny are better than the 4th gen trannys.

Here is some BIGH help.
what you'll need is
your stock harness
the f23 engine harness
send $250 to Jason (blown90Hatch) and he'll make a plug and play harness for you. But you'll also need to fork over $100 for a obd2a to obd2b conversion.
