Steering rack or tie rod?
Lately I have had a serious problem with my steering. I can turn left with no problem, but when I turn right, I get all sorts of problems. I usually hear a "clunking" or snapping sound through my steering wheel. It also gets really hard to turn the wheel sometimes, and then other times it's easy. It has totally ceased on me three times after making a right turn. I have to jerk the steering wheel really hard to the left to get it working again. I noticed the tie rod boot on the passenger side is broken.
If its your steering rack, check to see if your bushing is broken. you'll have to take off the boot to look. If so you might be able to replace just the bushing. In my crx there is only one on the right passenger side of the car. To get the bushing in you'll have to move the steering wheel back and forth while somone else pushes the bushing in. Hope this helps.

Sounds like my bad steering rack exactly. If you're gonna replace inner tie
rods might as well do the rack while you are at it.

While you're at it, have a look at the CV joints, particularly if the car has been lowered. If you really slammed it, you're going to wear CV joints, and they're not a strong point in these cars. The car will run and drive o.k., but when you start applying angular load to the wheel (the CV joint is outside its straight-ahead position, and under load) e.g., while cornering, it'll make all kinds of racket. Good news: might be cheaper than a steering rack.
Bad news: I could be full of it.
Good Luck!
man , I used to have the same problem with my crx when I first got it, never figured ot what it was exactly, went a got a rackj froma junkyard, and took the whole car apart when we were doing my first swap at redlinegsr's house, I never got arond to ptting the rack in, case it was a sonnavabytch to pll, I disconnected the tie rods, and in the process of sliding it off the spindle (nder the dash) and then ptting it back on, the problem went away, couldnt tell ya why, bt it did, but like ive been told alot, hondas are like microsoft, take them apart, pt them back together the way you fond them and they work
who knows thats all the advice I have, but you described my problem to the T, took it apart and put it together, and it worked, still driving on the same rack to this day.
