Default anyone with an h22/civic have a short shifter?

does anyone here have a short shifter on their h22/civic? i'd like to know if it works well or has any bad consequences to using it (i.e. mess anything up in the trans). it seems my throws are pretty long with the stock prelude shifter. thanks peeps.

I don't think any the h22 hybrids have any short shifters, could be wrong though. I'd ask the lude or accord forum. I'm sure there are many people with those inside their cars. It would have the same effect in the lude/accord as the civic as long as it's insatlled properly.

I got 2 of those through the group buy. Installed one in a customers car already, and I'm putting mine in next week (I'm too busy working on other peoples cars these days to touch my own heh heh).

Once installed, it will make a good thing even better.

IS the shifter an entired assembly or just the 2" adapter?

I had the adapter on my accord, and it sucks... it ruined my cables, so I would say not to get that... I am not sure about the entire shifter assembly type, like the C's shifter, but I would imagine it works the same way.

Exactly, I can shift very fast with the stock shifter anyway and no grinds. No need to shift even quicker, will just screw up the tranny.

I'm having big problems shifting. I think the throw on my 97 shifter is a bit long. I drove my frind's Probe and it's much shorter and crisper. I'd buy an entire shifting assembly but not that 2" piece of metal.

Yeah Brandon, from the video your shifting is fine you got that down good on your car. I just got my swap finally done and took it to the track the first time Last Friday. I'm having to get use to the torque that the H22A puts out. Plus my 3rd gear crapped out. SO I'm not sure how well I can shift the H swap yet. Oh well...

Thanks a lot man.

3rd is completely out? ah. You should get a 3rd gen lude/accord shifter assembly. The 97+ shifter assembly is a piece (it's plastic right?).

Here's an old pic of the shifter assembly. I just have carpet now.

Hope it's just the synchro.

I'm using the B&M shifter right now and I LOVE IT, throw and quick and very difficult to mis-shift. I like how you can adjust the shifter a little forward or a little further back.. I like mine right dead center. When people drive my car they actually compliment me on the shifter and how short the throws are.
this is what mine looks like. I'd recommend it to any H22 hybrid owner.

I also like it cause when I had my stock shifter I could really feel any gear grind(yes I suck)till it actually would grindn now I can feel it may before it actually happens so I could correct whatever I'm doing wrong. Its a very solid and reliable piece... I drag race almost every week and really beat the **** out of it and its never broken, I did misshift twice(3rd to 2nd)but thats because I wasnt paying attention to what I was doing.

Yeah, true. How much shorter is it?

I'm not a fan of short shifters because with my stock motor (D16Z6) in my EX coupe, I had the short shifter, and completely screwed up my tranny. That is also with the shitty rod shifter as well.

The stock prelude shifter and cable idea I just love. Never grinded using Honda MTF, shift extremely fast and just doesn't grind at all. I'm just wondering how much shorter the B&M would be type deal. And of course, the blingy ness

I would say a good 30% shorter, I wish I had pics. There is nothing wrong with my tranny.. under normal driving it never grinds, it's when I try to shift like Paul Tracy does my grinding happen... I need to learn to full disengage the clutch prior to me shoving the shifter into the next gear.

i'm about to get a DC Sport one today. i had it on my prelude and it felt great, never missed a gear. now that i have a h22 hatch, i miss 3rd at times when you need it the most.

i guess the short shifter made the shifting more "SOLID / STABLE"

I am currently using the forbidden shifter in my 923 hatch and I can attest that its a world of difference. The throws are shorter and more precise and feels more balanced then when it was stock. My shifter is from a 91 Accord too if that helps any..

Just do a search for forbidden motorsports on this site or google. Was $120 shipped for me.. I think he was having a discounted price as well.. Well worth the money. And I had a nuespeed adapter before and that thing was notchy and would always need retightening after a while..

I HAVE heard good things about B&M though, but never had a chance to try it out..
