Need some specs on struts and springs....
Hey all, i'm new here, and must admit, I'm VERY happy I found this site.
Anyway, I'm currently running an '89 Accord Hatch. As some of you may be aware, there's very little aftermarket suspension parts available for this application.
So...... I'm trying to do a little investigative work to see if there's possibly another application that may fit my vehicle with little/no modification. So what I'm looking for, if possible, is if you can post up your strut body height and diameter, overall strut length (piston extended), and what type of mounting bracket it uses. With that, if you also know the spring diameter (coil diameter), and height.
I know that 99.9% of everyone does not know this off the top of their heads, but any help is greatly appreciated.
Muchas Gracias!

I am grasping at straws here but what about Preludes of the same vintage? If I am not mistaken weren't they on a similar platform? I know the aftermarket isn't much friendlier to them but it is another place to look.
There was also an Accord wagon race car that was posted for sale several times in here. I can't find the link in the archive but I am sure someone remembers the car and may be able to provide info as to who built it and what they used. I *believe* it was "Riverbend Racing" - or something to that effect that originally built the car.
Giles probably knows since I think he was one of the original people who posted it.

I just did a little digging around and found that it sounds like the 4th generation Civic (88-91) front shock application *may* be interchangable with that of the 3rd gen Accord. What it sounds like is that the shock rod may need to be shortened some to get it to work right. If this is the case, I'd imagine you'd have all the selection in the world (albeit with a slight bit of modification needed) to make it work.
There's also the ability to get the Bilstein HD (the 3rd gen Accord application) as well as what seems to be the Koni "red" revalved to work with what you need.
Found a little bit here:
On Bilsteins - http://www.3geez.com/showthrea...18586
On "good shocks" for your car - http://www.3geez.com/showthrea...ber=1
Keep in mind, some of this stuff is geared towards properly "lowering" an Accord and not necessarily for competition. You may have to do a little sifting to filter out the poop. A little problem I have is with folks in this forum incorrectly calling them struts when they are definitely shocks.
HTH,
Mike - who thinks the 3rd gen Accord is one of the best Hondas ever made, and has one in the family.

thanks Mike. I'm actually a veteran member of 3Geez. Jim and I toss ideas back and forth with other applications to try out. I think my next experiment will be newer Civic coil-overs. Who knows? I'm going to be making a trip to the j/y in the next few weeks to snag some strut/spring combos and see what I can work out.
I'm actually already running on Koni reds, the ones for the 3G application, and am very pleased with them. I'm also working on a deal right now to get a blown set of fronts, from another member of 3geez, to send back to Koni for a full rebuild, shortening, external adjusting, and re-valving. But KONI just announced that they've discontinued this application as of the end of June. Bill's are another option, yes, but I'm looking to see if I can find other application options just to broaden the scope a little. I'd be real interested to see a set of KYB AGX's worked into a 3G. I had them on my 300Z and loved them.
Keep all the suggestions coming. I can use any info you may have. Also, if anyone has their stock shocks/springs that they don't want anymore, I'll be happy to take them off your hands and use them for my research.
